We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Cybersecurity Engineer to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer. The Cybersecurity Engineer will support The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The program is focused on enhancing the VA’s cybersecurity program to meet data privacy and cybersecurity needs. Work hours will be Eastern Standard Time (EST). Veterans are encouraged to apply. Duties Configure data classification engine scanning, leveraging Varonis Policy Pack and rule customization for specific compliance use cases. Remediate data risk and exposure leveraging the Varonis Automation Engine; validate all remediation rules; perform and present post-remediation Data Risk Assessment. Optimize threat models by reviewing and maintaining accurate privileged account discovery; tune threat models based on business needs, and impact and severity of issue; integrate alerts from Varonis in other systems such as Splunk. Provide support in configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining common infrastructure and applications (ESXi, Windows, Linux/RedHat, AWS, ServiceNOW). Collaborate with the VA Cyber Security Operations Center Team and various Storage Teams in working sessions to help stand up, implement or monitor the Varonis DSP Product. Assist with creating and maintaining technical documentation, including SOPs, implementation plans, and policy updates. Create and manage ServiceNow (SNow) tickets and create/support dashboard/report creation for tracking and visualization of security activities. Support the development of Zero Trust (ZT) implementation strategies that are directed by ZT memorandums. Use Excel and PowerPoint create presentations, charts and trending graphs as required. Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. 1–3 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity. Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: Windows Server Administration (basic patching, troubleshooting) Linux/RedHat Administration (basic patching, troubleshooting) AWS or other cloud environments (basic server builds, snapshots, restores) ServiceNow (ticketing and dashboard creation) Familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as Varonis, Splunk, or other monitoring solutions (training/mentorship will be provided). Understanding of sensitive data types (e.g., PII, PHI) and basic cybersecurity compliance frameworks. Experience with Window Server Administration (Patching, Troubleshooting, Upgrading, Migration) Strong communication skills with the ability to contribute to technical writing and documentation. Team-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with guidance. Ability to obtain a government security clearance. As a Cybersecurity Program Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the mission of the Veterans Affairs by leading a dynamic and exciting cybersecurity program for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This program will implement, deploy and maintain Prisma Cloud and the Extended Security Intelligence and Automation Management (XSIAM) tools throughout the VA to secure their applications environment. In this role, a typical day will include: Oversee the successful completion of all program tasks, including technical work, administrative actions, and business development activities. Direct program activities to meet customer and organizational objectives and serve as a liaison with customers to coordinate activities, negotiate tasks, and solve problems. Supervise assigned technical and administrative staff, including partner teams and leads, and perform personnel actions such as hiring and performance evaluations. Maintain positive relationships with key Government Points of Contact (POCs), respond to their requests or concerns, and conduct frequent check-ins to ensure customer satisfaction with Maveris performance. Continuously develop the team and organize resources to optimally achieve program goals and objectives. Coordinate and monitor subcontractor activities and administer subcontractor deliverables and financials. Ensure compliance with relevant corporate and government policies and standards. Utilize management tools and technologies to support tracking, status reporting, collaboration, and workflow management. Perform business development activities at all stages, including the support of technical and cost proposals. Bachelor's Degree or higher - equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 5+ years of project, portfolio, and program management experience related to the delivery of IT systems and solutions. Experience managing cybersecurity projects and programs in the Federal government space is preferred. Program and project management certifications are a plus (PMP, PgMP, CSM, CSPO, SP, SSM, etc.) Thorough understanding of project and program management techniques and methods. Strong understanding of Cybersecurity tooling especially Palo Alto Products such as Prisma Cloud. Experience with Agile project management methods and frameworks such as SCRUM and SAFe is preferred. Working knowledge of program/project management software (Microsoft Project, Jira, Microsoft 365/Teams applications, etc.) Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills. Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills. Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team of peers.
