Lead sourcing and onboarding of independent haulers and manage vendor relationships to support final mile delivery operations. | Bachelor's degree with 3+ years procurement or logistics experience, strong negotiation and vendor management skills, familiarity with TMS and procurement platforms. | We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Procurement Specialist to lead the sourcing and onboarding of independent haulers to support our final mile delivery operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring reliable, cost-effective, and scalable transportation solutions by building a robust network of independent carriers. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of the logistics industry, and the ability to manage vendor relationships with precision and professionalism. Key Responsibilities: Independent Hauler Sourcing & Onboarding Identify, evaluate, and recruit independent haulers to meet regional and national delivery needs. Develop sourcing strategies to attract high-performing carriers, including outreach campaigns, industry networking, and digital platforms. Lead onboarding processes including contract negotiation, compliance checks, and system integration. Vendor Management Maintain strong relationships with haulers to ensure service quality, reliability, and performance. Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, claims, and customer satisfaction; implement corrective actions as needed. Conduct regular business reviews and performance evaluations. Contract Negotiation & Compliance Negotiate competitive rates and service terms while ensuring alignment with company standards. Ensure all haulers meet legal, safety, and insurance requirements. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to manage contract lifecycle and risk mitigation. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with operations, finance, and technology teams to align procurement strategies with business goals. Support implementation of new delivery markets or service expansions by securing hauler capacity. Market Intelligence & Strategy Stay informed on industry trends, regional capacity shifts, and regulatory changes affecting independent haulers. Provide insights and recommendations to improve sourcing efficiency and cost control. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience in procurement, logistics, or transportation sourcing, preferably with independent contractors. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and procurement platforms. Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Preferred Skills: Experience in final mile delivery or gig economy logistics. Knowledge of DOT regulations and carrier compliance standards. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus for broader hauler engagement. Key Responsibilities Procurement Strategy & Governance Deploy and own the Linehaul procurement strategy aligned with network design, volume forecasts, and service requirements. Strategic Sourcing & Contracting Lead large-scale RFPs, tenders, and auctions using digital sourcing tools (e.g., Keelvar). Negotiate commercial frameworks with core and regional linehaul providers. Ensure the majority of linehaul spend is covered by robust, compliant contracts. Supplier & Capacity Management Develop strategic partnerships with key linehaul carriers. Ensure capacity readiness for peak seasons and network changes. Monitor supplier performance, financial health, and service reliability. Network Optimization & Execution Partner with Network, Operations, and Product teams to support route optimization, linehaul balancing, and asset utilization. Support new lanes, hubs, and structural network changes from a procurement standpoint. Digital Enablement & Analytics Drive adoption of advanced sourcing and optimization tools (e.g., Keelvar). Improve spend transparency, award logic, and data-driven decision-making. Leverage analytics to support sourcing strategies and carrier mix decisions. Stakeholder Leadership Act as a senior procurement partner to Operations, Network, Commercial, and Finance leadership. Support customer solutions and pricing strategies with linehaul cost intelligence.
