Architect and develop AI-native SaaS modules for trade school management, leveraging agentic coding tools and high-level architecture. | Deep Laravel expertise, extensive experience with AI tooling and workflows, and a proven track record of shipping production web applications. | Location: Fully Remote (USA or Canada) Comp: $120k - $130k + Equity + Performance Bonuses The Mission: Building the Operating System for Trade Schools Lumion is the all-in-one operating system for trade and technical schools. We are the central platform that powers the entire institution—from the first lead generated, to enrollment, tuition payments, compliance reporting, and alumni career tracking. We are a well-funded, high-velocity startup backed by TTV Capital and Tusk Venture Partners. We are obsessed with helping the next generation of tradespeople launch successful careers, and we are updating our entire stack to be AI-First. The Role: Code at the Speed of Thought We are looking for a Senior Engineer who is 100% all-in on AI-native workflows. If you believe in hand-crafting every line of boilerplate PHP as a badge of honor, this role is not for you. We are hiring engineers who treat AI agents (Claude Code, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) as their primary toolset. You will be an orchestrator of code, using these tools to ship comprehensive features 10x faster than traditional developers. You aren't just writing code; you are architecting the automated backbone that allows trade schools to scale. You will: Architect & Orchestrate: Use Laravel 12 as the foundation, but rely on AI agents to handle the implementation heavy lifting. Your value lies in high-level architecture, prompt engineering, and rigorous code review. Build the "School OS": Develop the interconnected modules that run the school—admissions portals, financial aid automations, and student information systems—integrated seamlessly with AI to reduce administrative drag. Ship Relentlessly: Leverage agentic coding tools to condense week-long sprints into day-long pushes. Maintain Sanity: While we move fast, we prioritize stability. You will ensure the AI-generated code adheres to strict SOLID principles and rigorous testing standards (Pest). The Stack & Tooling Core: PHP 8.4+, Laravel 12+, Livewire, Filament AI Tooling (Mandatory): You must be proficient with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Gemini, Codex). You live in the terminal. Data & AI Infra: MySQL, Redis, and vector databases (pgvector/Pinecone) for RAG implementations to make school data accessible via natural language. Testing: Pest PHP (AI writes the tests; you verify the coverage). What We Require (No Compromises) Agentic Workflow Mastery: You don’t just "use ChatGPT sometimes." AI is not your “rubbery ducky.” You have a fully developed workflow using tools like Claude Code, Gemini, Codex, etc. to generate, refactor, and debug complex codebases. Laravel Expertise: You know the framework deeply enough to instantly spot when the AI is hallucinating or using an anti-pattern. You can guide the AI to use Service Providers, Facades, and Eloquent correctly. Business Logic Intuition: You understand that we are building a mission-critical platform. You can translate complex school workflows into clean technical architecture. Shipping Mindset: You value outcomes over output. You care about the feature landing in the school administrator's hands, not the purity of the implementation process. 3+ Years Experience: In shipping production web applications (SaaS preferred). Why Join Lumion Now? No Legacy Drag: We are constantly modernizing. You won't be fighting 10-year-old spaghetti code; you'll be building on the newest version of Laravel. AI Sandbox: We encourage you to experiment with the newest models and tools. If a new agentic tool comes out that saves time, we buy it. The Impact: Solving the Skilled Trades Gap America is facing a massive shortage of skilled tradespeople, from electricians to nurses, and schools are the bottleneck. By building the AI-first operating system for these institutions, you aren't just shipping software; you are removing the friction that keeps students from graduating. You are directly contributing to closing the skills gap and helping thousands of people move from "unemployed" to "essential careers." Remote-First Culture: We don't care where you sit, as long as you are authorized to work in the US/Canada and are aligned with our timezone for collaboration. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 USD Equity: Meaningful stock options in a venture-backed startup. Bonuses: Quarterly performance-based cash bonuses. Perks: Unlimited PTO, 401(k), full Health/Dental/Vision reimbursement up to $537.50/mo, $200/mo tech stipend, $100/mo wellness stipend. How to Apply Don't send a generic cover letter. Tell us about your AI stack. Which models are you driving? What is your preferred agentic workflow? Show us something you built where you acted as the architect and the AI acted as the builder. Join Lumion. Build the OS for the future of skilled trades. 🚀
