Description JLGOV is seeking a Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer to provide advanced engineering, operational, and advisory support for our federal client's Microsoft 365, Azure, and Microsoft Security environments. This is a senior, largely independent role responsible for the resilience, scalability, and security of an enterprise Microsoft cloud footprint. Must be a U.S. citizen because of the government requirements No Citizenship Sponsorship Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Designing, implementing, and optimizing Microsoft 365, Azure, and Microsoft Security services Administering a hybrid Active Directory / Microsoft 365 / Entra ID environment under Microsoft's tiered security model Managing Intune device compliance and Autopilot deployment for 700+ endpoints across Windows, macOS, and iOS Administering Conditional Access, privileged access, MFA transitions, and Smart Card/FIDO authentication Managing Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint Online Configuring and maintaining Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and Purview, including Sentinel data source health monitoring Building Power BI dashboards for systems health, compliance, spend, and utilization reporting Configuring Azure budget alerting with 90-day lead-time reporting Writing incident response and disaster recovery playbooks integrated into client COOP documentation Supporting audits, assessments, and formal change management processes Personnel Requirements Senior-level technical leadership with the ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision Demonstrated, currently maintained expertise across the full Microsoft cloud stack (M365, Azure, Microsoft Security) Years of Experience Minimum 8+ years in enterprise Microsoft cloud engineering, including senior/lead-level responsibility Preferred Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field Substitute Education Additional relevant professional experience may be substituted for a degree on a year-for-year basis (typically 4 years of directly relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree) Specific Responsibilities / Tasks Implement cloud security architecture aligned to NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-207 (Zero Trust), and FedRAMP Moderate Lock down remote PowerShell administrative access across Entra/Azure APIs, including headless Exchange Online provisioning and Microsoft Graph access Serve as senior technical advisor across cloud, cybersecurity, and network teams Clearance Position requires ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance (specific level to be confirmed based on client determination) Must be a U.S. citizen because of the government requirements No Citizenship Sponsorship Certifications All of the following current Microsoft certifications, maintained for a minimum of 5 years (expired or professionally-unused certifications will not be considered). Work Arrangement Hybrid position. Candidates must live within approximately 75 miles of Washington, DC and be available for on-site support when requested. Final work arrangements will be determined by the customer. Compensation $120,456–$144,000 annually, based on experience and role. The Lead ISSO is expected to fall near the top of the range. Minimum Qualifications U.S. citizenship Eligibility for a Tier 4 High-Risk Public Trust Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, IT, information systems, computer science, or a related field Lead ISSO: 10–12+ years of relevant experience Senior ISSO: 6–10+ years of relevant experience Experience with RMF, FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, ATO support, continuous monitoring, POA&M management, vulnerability management, and audit readiness Ability to produce accurate, audit-ready cybersecurity documentation Preferred certifications include: CISSP, CISM, CGRC, CAP, CASP+, Security+, CEH, or CISA. Key Responsibilities Support RMF and system authorization activities Develop and maintain SSPs, POA&Ms, risk assessments, and authorization artifacts Perform continuous monitoring and vulnerability analysis Coordinate remediation and incident-response activities Support audits, assessments, reporting, and executive briefings Maintain accurate records in tools such as CSAM and ServiceNow Analyze data from Splunk, Tenable, Qualys, Microsoft Defender, and related platforms Lead ISSO Responsibilities Lead day-to-day ISSO operations Serve as the primary technical contact with Government cybersecurity leadership Direct the Senior ISSOs Oversee quality reviews, risk management, reporting, and authorization packages Remain technically hands-on Employment is contingent upon contract award, Government approval, verification of qualifications, and successful suitability processing.
