Lead daily landfill operations, ensure regulatory compliance, manage budget and safety, and oversee a team of 18 employees. | Requires 2+ years hands-on landfill management, 2+ years managing 15+ direct reports, knowledge of environmental regulations, budget oversight, and heavy equipment maintenance experience. | Position Overview We are conducting a confidential search for a Landfill Operations Manager to oversee daily operations at a high-volume landfill site in St. Louis, Missouri. This position is a replacement due to internal promotion, reflecting the organization’s commitment to growth and advancement. The Landfill Operations Manager will be responsible for full-site leadership, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and safety management. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong field presence and operational oversight. Team Structure • Direct Reports: 18 • Key Responsibilities for Landfill Operations Manager • Oversee day-to-day landfill operations with approximately 80% of time spent in the field • Lead and develop a team of 18 employees • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations • Manage regulatory inspections and maintain strong working relationships with local government agencies • Drive operational efficiency and financial performance • Manage site budget, P&L, EBITDA, and day-to-day financial oversight • Oversee heavy equipment maintenance and landfill operational processes • Enforce and champion workplace safety protocols • Maintain organization and control within a fast-paced, high-volume environment • Required Qualifications for Landfill Operations Manager • Minimum 2 years of HANDS -ON proven landfill management or solid waste operations experience • Minimum 2 years in a management role with at least 15 direct reports • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (local, state, and federal) • Experience managing regulatory compliance and coordinating inspections • Budget management and financial oversight experience including P&L and EBITDA responsibility • Strong understanding of heavy equipment maintenance and landfill operations • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety • Proficiency in Microsoft Office • Ability to work independently with minimal direction • Ability to work in outdoor environments with exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather • Ability to lift 20–25 pounds as needed Ideal Leadership Profile • Strong interpersonal skills with employees and customers • Ability to manage high-tension situations with professionalism • Maintains composure and emotional control under pressure • Calm, steady, and levelheaded leadership style • Demonstrates sound judgment in challenging circumstances • Proven ability to guide, support, and develop others ____________________________________________________________________________________ Compensation & Benefits for Landfill Operations Manager • Base Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 (DOE) • Bonus: 15% performance-based bonus (based on site performance) • Benefits: EXCELLENT Benefit package, including 4% matching 401k, exceptionally good benefits! • Relocation: Available • 2-year relocation agreement with 100% reimbursement if employee leaves within 2 years • True-Up Flat Fee based on region To apply for this position, please contact: Angie Benninghoff International Search Consultants 877-598-0830, 217-209-7672(mobile) angieb@iscjobs.com | LinkedIn Profile
