Due to continued expansion across the Midwest, they are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of natural gas transmission and distribution projects throughout the Detroit market. This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for overseeing complex utility infrastructure projects while mentoring project teams and driving operational excellence. Position Overview The Senior Project Manager will provide overall leadership for multiple gas utility construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This individual will be responsible for project execution, financial performance, client relationships, scheduling, safety, and team development while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Projects include natural gas transmission pipelines, distribution main replacement programs, regulator stations, integrity management projects, and related underground utility infrastructure for major utility clients. Key Responsibilities • Lead multiple gas transmission and distribution projects simultaneously, ranging from several million dollars to large multi-year utility Programs. • Provide overall project leadership from estimating handoff through project completion. • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and resource plans. • Ensure projects meet profitability, quality, and performance objectives. • Build and maintain strong relationships with utility clients, engineers, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies. • Oversee contract administration, change management, procurement, and risk mitigation. • Partner with field leadership to ensure safe and efficient project execution. • Lead project teams consisting of Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field personnel. • Review project financials, cost reports, earned revenue, and forecasting on a regular basis. • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and operational efficiency across projects. • Support business development efforts by participating in client meetings, estimating reviews, and strategic planning. • Foster a culture centered around safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ideal Background • Extensive experience managing natural gas transmission and/or distribution construction projects. • Proven success leading projects for major gas utilities or pipeline operators. • Strong understanding of underground utility construction, pipeline installation, HDD, regulator stations, tie-ins, integrity work, and restoration. • Experience managing complex utility contracts, budgets, schedules, and project teams. • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple concurrent projects while maintaining strong financial performance. • Excellent leadership, communication, and client relationship skills. • Experience working with union and/or non-union craft labor environments. • Proficiency with project scheduling and construction management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, HCSS, HeavyJob, Viewpoint, or similar platforms.
