Oversees and coordinate the daily operations of the hospital pharmacy and its staff. Provides comprehensive medication-related care for the purpose of achieving definite outcomes that improve a patient's quality of life. Acts in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals in the responsibility for patient drug therapy outcomes. Is responsible for assisting the pharmacy director with preparing and performing all activities involving the pharmacy and therapeutics committee. Assists the Director in complying with all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations. Will assists in new process implementation and quality improvement initiatives. Responsible for inventory management and the ongoing financial performance of the pharmacy. - Assists patients in enrolling in manufacturer-sponsored patient assistance programs, copay cards, and other financial aid resources. - Verifies eligibility criteria for assistance programs and maintains accurate documentation. - Completes and submits patient assistance applications on behalf of patients. - Tracks application status and follows up with manufacturers, insurers, and patients as needed. - Educates patients on available financial assistance options and guides them through the process. - Responds to patient inquiries regarding medication costs and program requirements. - Works with pharmacists, prescribers, and insurance specialists to ensure timely medication access. - Documents all interactions and program activities in the pharmacy system or designated software. Key Relationships Reports to: Pharmacy Director Direct Reports: 5 Key Relationships: Revenue Cycle, Care Management Candidate Qualifications Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies. Requires current Indiana license or eligibility for Indiana licensure as a Pharmacist. Requires Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy prior to 2006. 5 - 7 years pharmacist experience is required. Requires knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to dispensing of drugs and narcotics. Management experience is preferred. This is a hybrid role reporting to the Integrated Services Center and will be onsite 2-3 days per week. This is a new role that will be over the Medication Assistance Program system wide. Upon successful completion of training, the role may transition to a hybrid schedule, with one day per week remote. Role Overview: This position provides essential administrative and technical support to leaders and their teams. Primary responsibilities include support with patient scheduling and responding to inquiries as appropriate. The role operates with basic guidance and is expected to address routine administrative and technical issues independently. Medical office experience is highly desired. Tasks: Ensure adequate staffing, assign daily tasks to MA team, room patients as needed, complete paperwork and prior authorizations as needed, inventory of vaccines and clinical supplies, VFC coordinator, and train staff as needed. Provides functional guidance to support staff and performs the duties of a medical assistant in accordance with organization standards. Provides coordination of administrative services to ensure smooth operation. May coordinate scheduling, training, and inventory duties. May be responsible for inpatient and outpatient consult activities within assigned location. May perform computerized physician order entry, only if directed by assigned physician. High school diploma or equivalent. Requires graduation from a Medical Assistant program and/or certification from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC). AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. 2 years' experience as an MA II or III at IUH is required. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required. Requires ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.

Ensures orders are filled timely and accurately. Verifies product by description, item number, and quantity. Inspects products for damage, expiration, and proper packaging. Performs cycle counts and physical inventories in an accurate and efficient manner. Coordinates the availability and delivery of products, to include equipment, mail and/or linen. Provides excellent customer service. Ensures aisle/storeroom maintenance and cleanliness is constantly maintained. Effectively utilizes the Warehouse Management System (WMS), Wavemark Point of Use System (POU), and Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) to document all ordering, filling, stocking, tagging, and registering activity. This position may require on-call rotation and weekend coverage.
