The Senior Manager, Content Strategy & Editorial shapes HGA's voice, narrative, and point of view across sectors, audiences, and channels. Serving as the firm's editorial lead, this role sets the strategic vision, standards, and annual content agenda — and ensures that content is effectively activated through integrated distribution across web, social, video, email, and paid channels. Working closely with Brand, PR, and Market leadership, this role owns the firmwide editorial calendar and translates content priorities into channel strategies that reach the right audiences at the right moments. This role also guides paid search and campaign planning, ensuring media investments align with editorial and business development goals. Leading a multidisciplinary team spanning social media, digital experience, and editorial, this role operates as a peer leader alongside the Brand Manager, PR Manager and Internal/Exec Comms Manager within the Brand & Communications team — connecting content strategy, marketing systems, and performance measurement to advance brand awareness, client engagement, and business development. In This Role You Will Editorial Strategy & Planning • Own HGA's annual editorial calendar, setting strategic themes, priorities, and cadence aligned with the firm's growth plan and eight market sectors. • Establish governance models and planning processes that align content development, review, and distribution across teams. • Partner with Market leadership and Business Development to identify priority topics, campaigns, and thought leadership opportunities. Content & Channel Strategy • Set editorial direction and content standards across written, visual, and video storytelling, consistent with HGA's brand voice and positioning. • Oversee content strategy for the firm's website, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other digital platforms, ensuring channel-specific best practices. • Guide integrated content planning to ensure efficient reuse, adaptation, and amplification of stories across channels. • Define and oversee paid search and campaign strategy, ensuring targeting, messaging, and media investment align with editorial priorities and business development goals. Digital Platforms & Performance • Provide strategic oversight of key platforms (website, HubSpot), including email marketing, lead nurturing, segmentation, and landing pages. • Establish performance benchmarks and reporting frameworks across content and campaigns. • Use data and qualitative insights from Market and BD teams to refine editorial direction, distribution, and campaign performance. • Communicate findings and recommendations to Brand, Communications, and Market leadership. Team Leadership • Directly manage and mentor the Digital Operations Manager, Digital Content Manager, and Content Writer. • Set clear priorities, roles, and expectations to drive collaboration, accountability, and professional growth. • Foster a high-performing team culture that balances strategic thinking with disciplined execution. What You Will Need To Have • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, digital media, or a related field. • 15+ years of experience in content strategy, editorial, or integrated marketing roles, ideally within professional services or complex, matrixed organizations. • Demonstrated experience leading editorial content across multiple channels, including web, social, email, video, and paid media. • Proven people management experience, with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary digital and content team. • Strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills, with experience translating complex or technical subject matter into clear, compelling content. • Hands-on experience with marketing automation platforms, preferably HubSpot, including email marketing, segmentation, workflows, and performance reporting. • Experience overseeing website strategy, content governance, and digital platform maintenance. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and apply insights to improve content and campaign performance. • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with comfort partnering across disciplines, offices, and leadership levels. • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Salary Information The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. In This Role You Will • Drive HGA's public relations strategy and campaign management; • partner with the PR Director to develop and execute an annual PR strategy and editorial calendar aligned with firmwide and sector priorities; • serve as a thoughtful internal partner by providing clear guidance on story readiness, messaging alignment, and how editorial decisions support firmwide priorities; • anticipate needs, offer strategic recommendations, and keep PR leadership informed on risks, opportunities, and emerging narratives; • identify and pursue opportunities to showcase HGA's projects, people, and impact through earned media; and • draft, edit and proofread press releases, media advisories, key messages, pitches, and related content. • Develop compelling story angles that connect HGA's design work to industry and community conversations; • Research media outlets, editorial calendars, and current news topics to inform proactive outreach for national media submissions. • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers in relevant markets and sectors. • Manage media inquiries and coordinate interviews, background materials, and talking points for HGA leaders. • Track, analyze, and report PR results through dashboards and regular updates to internal teams. • Perform media research, maintain media lists, and monitor industry trends using Meltwater; become a subject matter expert on the tool. • Curate and share social media posts that highlighting media coverage and reinforce brand positioning. • Support internal and external communications needs related to earned media initiatives. • Attend select in-person events, interviews, and networking opportunities to strengthen relationships and visibility. What You Will Need To Have • 5-7 years of experience in public relations or strategic communications (agency or in-house), supported by formal PR training or education. • Proven track record securing earned media coverage at local, regional, and national levels and manage relationships with journalists and editors. • Deep understanding of media strategy, storytelling, and relationship-building. • Strong ability to influence and build alignment with diverse internal stakeholders, including senior leaders, through clarity, context, and well-supported recommendations. • Familiarity with PR measurement tools (e.g., Meltwater, Cision, Muck Rack). • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills across press materials and thought-leadership content. • Strategic thinker able to plan and manage multi-phase PR campaign with attention to detail. • Proactive, resourceful, and self-motivated; able to work independently and meet tight deadlines. • Effective verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills. • Demonstrated flexibility in a dynamic, fast paced environment. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams). • Familiarity with digital publishing and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X).
