Lenz Company has an opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead the building system design at our office in Middletown, CT. As a Project Engineer, the candidate will provide HVAC engineering solutions, production and project delivery for a diverse portfolio of MEP projects and clients in the commercial, government, healthcare and educational market segments. Day to Day Responsibilities: • Responsible for leading design projects of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems. • Oversee the specifications of mechanical equipment, including duct work, air handling units, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, etc. • Perform heating/cooling load calculations, site visits, surveys, reports and commissioning in support of mechanical design for commercial building, healthcare, educational and government facilities. • Lead MEP projects and engineering team members in cross-functional setting and collaborate to ensure that the design is accurate and that contract responsibilities are met according to client's expectations. • Oversee the interpretation of building codes, client specifications, as well as quality assurance processes of HVAC design projects. • Mentor and lead development of junior level engineering staff. • Perform other project management duties, such as proposals, requests for information (RFI's), construction administration, punch lists and commissioning. • Manage relationships with existing clients and architects for engineering and design consultations. • Develop relationships with new and prospective clients for potential projects. • Travel to local project sites may be required; some overnight travel may be expected. Minimum Qualifications: Education and/or Experience • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a Mechanical focus from ABET accredited college or university. • 10+ years of experience working with an MEP engineering consultant in Mechanical/HVAC Building System Design. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and Trane Trace software applications is required. • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. • Ability to meet project deadlines and provide outstanding service to clients. • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects. • Ability to work in and foster a team environment with minimal supervision. • Occasional travel is required. License(s) and/or Certification(s): • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. • P.E. license is required.
