Title: Operations Manager, Purchased Goods Department: Retail Operations Location: Juanita New Goods Facility, Kirkland, WA Reports to: Director of Merchandise, Inventory & Store Execution Supervises: Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, Warehouse Associates, Seasonal/Part-Time Staff FLSA Status: Salaried Non-Exempt Pay Range: $70,000 – 85,000 annual salary Position Summary The Purchased Goods Operations Manager oversees the efficient flow, accuracy, and execution of all purchased goods logistics, inventory management, and distribution functions across the agency’s purchased goods program. This role ensures timely and accurate vendor ordering for key items, receipt, labeling, and distribution of inventory from the warehouse to 21 retail locations. The Manager provides leadership for the warehouse team, drives operational efficiency, supports labor-saving initiatives (such as pre-labeling at the warehouse), and collaborates with merchandising and retail teams to align inventory movement with store demand, visual standards, and revenue goals. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management • Lead, train, and mentor a warehouse team including supervisors and material handlers, ensuring alignment with Goodwill values, safety, and operational excellence. • Conduct performance evaluations, establish clear productivity expectations, and foster professional development. • Partner with People Relations to manage hiring, coaching, and performance improvement. Warehouse Operations & Distribution • Oversee daily inbound and outbound shipments of purchased goods; ensure timely, accurate, and damage-free processing. • Maintain efficient warehouse layout, organization, and workflow to optimize space utilization and throughput. • Audit shipments and allocations for accuracy; resolve discrepancies promptly. • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, promoting a culture of safety awareness. Inventory Management & Replenishment • Maintain accurate perpetual and physical inventory records; conduct routine cycle counts. • Place purchase orders with vendors to ensure continuous supply of key replenishment items. • Monitor inventory levels of key high-volume items, ensuring that stock levels are maintained to meet customer demand and minimize out-of-stock situations. • Initiate and execute regular physical inventories and cycle counts in stores. Vendor & Purchasing Coordination • Communicate with vendors to schedule and track deliveries, confirm order accuracy, and resolve shipment or billing issues. • Manage PO database, ensuring timely entry and reconciliation of purchase orders and invoices. Seasonal Goods Execution • Oversee the pre-labeling process for purchased goods seasonal assortments to reduce in-store labor costs and ensure visual consistency • Create seasonal visual merchandise collateral for new goods. • Partner with the Visual Merchandising and Retail Operations teams to prioritize shipments aligned with promotional calendars and seasonal launches. Continuous Improvement • Collaborate with the Director of Merchandise, Inventory & Store Execution on cost-reduction, process optimization, and space-planning initiatives. • Implement lean warehouse practices to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve labor utilization. Other Duties • Conduct regular store visits to review purchased goods flow, identify operational challenges, and gather feedback. • Participate in strategic projects, audits, and cross-departmental meetings. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred. Experience • 3–5 years of warehouse, distribution, or inventory management experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity. • Demonstrated success in inventory control, vendor coordination, and retail logistics operations. • Experience with warehouse/inventory management systems preferred. Technical Skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams). • Ability to analyze and report on inventory and productivity metrics. • Strong aptitude for adopting new systems and technology. Key Responsibilities Program & Project Leadership Manage implementation of P&C programs including onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and professional development. Proactively manage program, project, and initiative backlog Lead cross-functional projects that support organizational goals, ensuring alignment between P&C, Retail, Mission Services, and Operations teams. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure P&C initiatives reflect the values and needs of the communities we serve. Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as a central point of coordination between P&C and other departments to ensure seamless communication and program execution. Facilitate feedback loops between frontline staff, leadership, and P&C to continuously improve employee experience. Data & Reporting Monitor and analyze P&C metrics to assess program impact and inform strategic decisions. Prepare reports and presentations for leadership, board members, and external partners. Communication and Change Management Own the development and implementation of P&C project and initiative communication and change management, to include any training or FAQs related to implementation and rollout. Ensure all communication is in keeping with EGNW standards and templates. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or related field. 3–5 years of experience in HR/P&C program or project management, preferably in a nonprofit or social enterprise setting. Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and build strong relationships across departments. Strong understanding of change management and internal communication principles. Strong understanding of P&C practices, nonprofit operations, and workforce development. Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills. Proficiency in HRIS and project management tools (e.g., Dayforce, Asana, etc.). Preferred Skills: Experience working with underserved populations or in mission-driven organizations. Certification in P&C (e.g., SHRM-CP) or project management (e.g., PMP). Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
