Lead and optimize client accounting functions focusing on billing and receivables management. | Requires 6-10 years in customer financial services with 2-4 years leading billing and AR functions and a bachelor's degree. | At Ellis Porter, our goal is to improve the immigration experience for employers and individuals so they can thrive in a smaller world. To do this, we've built a team of dedicated immigration professionals (we call ourselves Porters) who believe passionately in the economic and cultural benefits that immigration provides to America, and who excel at providing our clients with refreshingly clear guidance, uniquely creative strategies, and remarkably responsive service, all with genuine empathy and a personal touch. Immigration law is very complex and full of constant challenges, but the Ellis Porter team loves what we do, and who we do it with, and we find great satisfaction in knowing that our work positively, and intimately, impacts our clients’ lives and companies. Our Culture We're also immensely proud (and protective) of our culture at Ellis Porter. It's not what you would expect from a typical law firm, because we're not a typical law firm. We are creating a new leadership role to build a modern, high-performing client accounting function that integrates billing, receivables management, analytics, and collaboration across the firm. You'll get to design and lead a core business process that directly influences financial performance, legal teams support, and client satisfaction. Position Summary The Senior Manager, Client Financial Services will design, lead, and optimize the firm’s client accounting function, spanning billing operations and receivables management. What You'll Do: Client Accounting Leadership: Oversee all aspects of client billing and accounts receivable. Process Development: Design and implement efficient workflows for billing and receivables that increase efficiency, visibility and accountability. Collaboration and Influence: Partner with attorneys and practice leaders to cultivate accountability for billing and receivables management. Team Leadership: Develop and mentor a high-performing team that delivers exceptional service and financial performance. Technology & Innovation: Gain expertise on the firm’s financial systems and implement tools that elevate efficiency, transparency and control. Proactively leverage new and emerging tools (including AI) to optimize workflows and deliver value. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure appropriate documentation, internal controls, and adherence to ethical and regulatory requirements. What Skills You’ll Bring: Proven experience managing billing and accounts receivable operations, ideally in legal or professional services environments. Deep understanding of billing processes, including flat-fee structures and workflow management. Expertise in building out accounts receivable practices and driving quick and effective collections. Proven ability to convert financial information into actionable insights. Demonstrated successes in designing and implementing process improvements and performance metrics. Highly skilled in leveraging technology and data tools (Power BI, Excel, Accounting Seed, Salesforce, or similar) to mine large data sets and derive actionable insights. Leadership & Intangibles Credible, confident leader who inspires trust and models accountability. Strategic and execution-oriented, with a track record of driving initiatives that improve performance. Skilled in developing talent, fostering collaboration and creating a culture of accountability and service. High emotional intelligence, able to influence senior stakeholders and build relationships at all levels. Clear and persuasive communicator, skilled at navigating complex or sensitive situations. Proactive, innovative, and comfortable operating in a progressive, high growth environment with a startup mentality. Passionate proponent of immigration and global mobility, with strong cultural competence in working with international clients and diverse teams. Personally valuing kindness, empathy, diversity, and inclusion as drivers of business success.
