Drive sales performance and operational excellence across consumables categories through inventory and brand presence management. | Requires 3-4 years retail management experience, strong merchandise allocation and inventory management skills, and leadership abilities. | The Category Manager is responsible for driving sales performance, operational excellence, and team engagement across the consumables (Spirit, Wines, Tobacco, Food & Gifts) categories. Essential Functions • Ensure the assigned categories' brand presence is curated per corporate buying team standards. • Responsible for overall brand maintenance by allocating merchandise to stores utilizing data analysis. • Ensure brand presence, such as displays, visuals, and promotions, is in excellent condition. • Utilize the order replenishment system (min/max) to effectively allocate all assigned category merchandise. • Manage stock transfers between locations (transfer of merchandise between stores to ensure appropriate assortment). • Ensure 100% of all products available in the warehouse are in the stores, according to available space. • Verification of prices, promotions, and their terms in the store, and communicate any necessary adjustments/corrections. • Strategic immersion in all retail locations to maintain the assigned categories' stock levels and make appropriate recommendations to achieve merchandise and sales goals. • Handle vendor visits for assigned categories. • Maintain regular communication with the corporate buying teams. • Notify the buying team of items being requested that we do not currently assort that are worthy of listing. • Ensure promotional materials for HPPs are on time in store locations for activations and product launches. • Recommend floor moves and spaces to reinforce promotions and/or high turnover products to attract customers and increase sales. • Provide general sales training; category product knowledge & sales development to staff, both individually and in a group setting. Assist in scheduling vendor trainings. • Motivate and drive overall sales, with a focus on assigned categories. • Support the development of sales strategies to ensure that the monthly sales goals are met. • Perform all other duties as required. Ideal Candidate • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Merchandising, or related field and/or equivalent work experience in a management capacity • Minimum 3-4 years of retail management experience, preferably in an airport, travel retail, or high-volume environment • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds. • Strong understanding of merchandise allocation, inventory management, and category planning • Strong leadership, communication (oral and written), organizational, planning, and delegation skills • Comfortable working independently and on weekends and outside of regular office hours as business needs require • Fluency in English; additional languages an advantage given the international airport retail environment • Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure with competing deadlines Benefits • Day One Health Benefits • 401k Plan Contributions • Paid Time Off • Paid Holidays • Parking Reimbursement • Employee Discounts Compensation The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000. The Assistant General Manager (AGM), Sales is a key business partner to the General Manager, responsible for leading Product Sales Managers (PSMs) and driving sales, service excellence, and operational performance across the Beauty & Consumables categories. This role serves as a critical link between global merchandising teams and customers, ensuring merchandising strategies are effectively executed while continuously improving team productivity, customer experience, and commercial results. Drive Store Productivity & Service Experience • Lead and develop a team of Product Sales Managers (PSMs) to execute merchandising and sales strategies aligned with Global and Division Merchant priorities • Drive customer penetration, spend targets, market share growth, and overall store productivity • Ensure PSMs are knowledgeable in brand strategies, assortments, collections, and storytelling, and effectively translate this knowledge to their sales teams • Partner with Merchandising and Marketing teams to execute promotional calendars and in-store initiatives • Encourage proactive selling behaviors that increase sales, customer engagement, and team productivity • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify opportunities and risks • Participate in sales forecasting and support redevelopment initiatives as required • Build strong partnerships with lease brand partners and JV stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and business growth Team Leadership & Talent Development • Communicate company objectives and ensure teams remain focused on customer experience, productivity, and sales performance • Establish clear goals and accountability measures for PSMs and sales teams through regular coaching and performance reviews • Train, coach, and motivate teams to meet or exceed sales and profitability goals while role modeling DFS values and service expectations • Partner with the General Manager and Human Resources to support succession planning, employee engagement, retention, and development initiatives • Address performance concerns promptly and implement corrective action plans when necessary • Support recruitment and selection of management, team lead, and sales talent Store Planning & Presentation • Partner with Store Operations, Merchandising, and Visual teams to execute store presentation, promotional activities, and visual merchandising standards • Ensure consistent execution of DFS and vendor visual merchandising directives • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are followed and risks are addressed appropriately Communication & External Engagement • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Operations, Talent Management, Merchandising, Marketing, and Global CSC teams on store priorities and business needs • Represent DFS professionally through participation in community, charity, and local initiatives • Promote a positive professional image and uphold DFS values at all times Ideal Candidate • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business or equivalent preferred • 4 years’ retail store management required; regional and market leadership experience with merchandising and financial accountability highly desired • Able to effectively operate in a culturally diverse environment with astuteness and sensitivity • Able to work under stringent deadlines and high pressure and be able to prioritize a heavy workload with multiple deadlines • Strong analytical skills; ability to work with complex issue • Able to make sound decisions with relevant facts at hand; do not shy away from conflict • Good problem solving skills • Strong communication skills, both oral and written and be comfortable in making high level presentations • Ability to work independently and on weekends and outside of regular office hours, if required Benefits: • Day One Health Benefits • 401k Plan Contributions • Paid Time Off • Paid Holidays • Bonus Eligible • Parking Reimbursement • Employee Discounts The salary range for this position is $90,000-$140,000.
