Job Responsibilities Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. • Designs new products with existing or new technology, creating product layouts and detailed product drawings and documentation. • Manages design projects from conception through release to production. • Solves functional, application or production problems using 8-D, Design of Experiments and/or other methodologies. • Reduces product cost and improves product quality by working with Procurement, Quality and Manufacturing. • Works with Sales Managers and Applications Engineering to identify and provide solutions for new customer opportunities. • Modifies and creates drawings, test procedures and bill of materials. • Organizes and prioritizes assignments to ensure projects are completed on schedule. • Demonstrates flexibility, responds positively and supports changes in procedures, processes, responsibility and assignments. • Maintains cooperative and productive working relationships and communications with all departments and employees. Background & Skills Required • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Agricultural Engineering. • A minimum of 3 years of related experience in design engineering developing mechanical components. • Knowledge/experience with computer aided design, preferable in NX Unigraphics or other parametric, feature based design software. • Able to work in the US, both now and in the future, without sponsorship Preferred • A minimum of 3 years of related experience in product engineering developing cartridge valves/fluid power products. • Knowledge/experience with CNC machining processes; turning, milling, honing. • Knowledge/experience with materials including steel, aluminum, elastomers. • Experience using statistical tools in problem solving. • Magnetic and electromagnetic design experience. Job Criteria • Must be able to understand and apply engineering principles and applicable technology. • Must be able to perform engineering calculations related to fluid dynamics and spring design. • The candidate must be able to work in a team atmosphere and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. • The candidate must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, be self-motivated, and eager to learn and accept new responsibilities. What You'll Be Doing • Lead the design, development, modification, and adaptation of products that push performance and reliability forward. • Conduct analysis and testing to validate designs-yes, this is where you get to break things scientifically. • Solve functional, application, and production challenges with creativity and precision. • Elevate existing products with new features, cost-savings improvements, and updates driven by technology advances or component changes. • Leverage your engineering know-how to independently tackle complex tasks, organize your workload, and deliver high-quality results on time (cape optional). • Partner closely with sales, marketing, service, production, drafting, procurement, suppliers, and operations-because good engineering is a team sport. • Support internal and external customers with responsiveness, clarity, and a can-do mindset. • Build strong, collaborative relationships across teams and help facilitate productive cross-functional discussions.
