Support students with severe needs in educational settings by assisting with academic tasks and behavior management. | Experience working with special needs children and adults, ability to support educational and social/emotional needs in a medical setting. | Aurora Public Schools collaborate with Children's Hospital to provide an educational setting for children who need daily medical and social/emotional care. This para-educator position would be in one of two classrooms at Children's Hospital. This para-educator would support students' access to their general education instruction by running small groups, working 1:1 and/or helping students stay on task and complete academic work. Nurses on the unit will take care of all medical needs. The para-educator would be working directly with an APS special education teacher and Children's Hospital medical staff. Be licensed by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and appropriately endorsed to teach the class and/or meet the criteria established by CDE to serve as an educator of record for the class. 2. Instruct students in the identified area at least 50% of the assignment.
