Lead business development initiatives to expand ATC Automation's presence in life sciences and other sectors by generating leads, managing client relationships, and closing deals. | Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business, 3+ years in life sciences business development, knowledge of drug/device development and manufacturing practices, strong communication and sales skills. | ATC Automation is seeking a driven and strategic Business Development Manager to support growth across the Northeast Territory. In this role, you will lead initiatives that expand ATC's footprint within the life sciences sector-including pharma, diagnostics, medical devices, and medical consumables-while also developing new opportunities in the transportation and consumer products markets. We're looking for a relationship-builder with strong industry insight and a passion for advancing scientific and automation innovation through custom-engineered solutions. Key Responsibilities • Market Development: Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new business opportunities within key life science segments such as biotechnology, diagnostics, drug delivery, and medical devices. Lead new market penetration efforts across transportation and consumer product sectors. • Lead Generation & Pipeline Growth: Develop and maintain a robust pipeline through targeted networking, outreach, conferences, referrals, and inbound activity. • Client Engagement: Build and strengthen relationships with manufacturing engineers, process engineers, procurement leaders, and various levels of management within target accounts. • Proposal Development: Create tailored proposals and presentations that address the unique technical, regulatory, and operational needs of life science customers. • Contract Negotiation: Drive proposal reviews, negotiate contract terms, and close deals that support long-term customer success and align with company objectives. • Market Intelligence: Track industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging technologies to shape business strategy and inform solution development. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with marketing, applications engineering, and operations teams to deliver responsive, high-quality customer experiences. • Reporting & CRM Management: Maintain accurate CRM data and deliver regular updates on pipeline status, forecasting, and key account performance. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field • 3+ years of business development or sales experience in the life sciences sector • Solid understanding of drug and device development processes • Familiarity with life science manufacturing practices such as automation, GAMP, and validation • Demonstrated success closing high-value deals and building long-term strategic partnerships • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels • Proficiency in value-based selling and connecting technical solutions to ROI and risk mitigation • Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time-management skills • Ability to travel as required Preferred Skills • Experience working with CMOs, CDMOs, or life science OEM manufacturers • Background in automation or a related technical discipline • Knowledge of CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) • Prior experience as an Automation Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer is a plus Physical Requirements • Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend as needed • Work performed primarily in a standard office environment • Near visual acuity with or without accommodation • Normal hearing with or without accommodation What We Offer • Competitive base salary plus performance-based commissions/bonuses • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits; health savings account; paid time off; and 401(k) • Opportunities for career growth and professional development • A mission-driven culture rooted in innovation, collaboration, and customer impact Disclaimer: This job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
