Job Description The International Reporter Interns will cover international content focused on one of six regions, including Africa, Asia, China, India, the Middle East, or Oceania, as their regular beat for Modern Treatise. Responsibilities: • Write a weekly column covering one of these regions: Africa, Asia, China, India, Oceania, The UK, or the Middle East. • Special region-related coverage. Duration: 6 months This is a virtual and unpaid internship. Yet, you will gain valuable writing experience. Qualifications The candidate should be adept at reporting on one of five regions. The candidate should be adept at understanding political philosophies rather than political talking points. The candidate must be able to look at geopolitical subject matters from multiple perspectives. The candidate must be adept at relying on fact-based evidence rather than political or activist wish-thinking. The candidate must be able to write as a neutral reporter. Qualifications The ideal candidate for this Journalism Editor Internship must possess the following qualifications: Required: • Superior verbal and written communication skills, with expert-level proficiency in AP Style writing format • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of diverse international social and political landscapes • Proven capacity to analyze and interpret international social and political events from multiple perspectives • Ability to oversee the development of intentional social and political news features covering international topics, presenting multifaceted views on complex issues • Exceptional time management skills with a track record of meeting stringent deadlines • Expert knowledge of communication and mass media principles and practices • Proficiency in learning and adapting to new online content media platforms • Previous editorial or content management experience, or demonstrated success in managing a relevant site independently • Capability to effectively manage and lead a team of seven reporters Preferred: • Bachelor's degree or current graduate-level studies in Journalism, English, or a closely related field • Prior writing, reporting, or editing experience with academic publications or other reputable outlets Additional Information: • Duration: 12-month commitment • Position Type: Virtual, part-time, unpaid internship • Start Date: Immediate Note: While candidates from Metro New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, and Chicago are particularly encouraged to apply, this position is open to qualified applicants regardless of location.
