Job Summary The HR Specialist plays a key role in creating an exceptional employee experience from a candidate's first day through every stage of employment. This position serves as the primary point of contact for onboarding, employee relations, leave administration, and day-to-day HR support while ensuring compliance with employment policies and regulations. Working closely with Recruiting, Operations, and the HR Generalist, the HR Specialist helps employees feel welcomed, supported, and equipped for success. This role combines strong organization with empathy, professionalism, and a genuine passion for helping people. Essential Responsibilities Employee Onboarding & Experience Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires across multiple states. Facilitate New Hire Orientation and ensure employees are prepared for a successful first day. Serve as the primary HR contact for new employees throughout onboarding. Coordinate employment paperwork, I-9 verification, background checks, and system access. Ensure onboarding tasks are completed accurately and within required timelines. Partner with Recruiting and Operations to deliver a seamless transition from candidate to employee. Employee Relations Build trusted relationships with employees and managers. Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment matters. Assist with employee relations concerns and workplace investigations. Support managers in resolving employee concerns while promoting a positive workplace culture. Leave Administration & Employee Support Administer FMLA, CFRA, ADA accommodations, and other protected leave programs. Coordinate return-to-work processes and maintain communication with employees on leave. Manage workers' compensation claims and collaborate with insurance carriers and supervisors. Compliance & HR Administration Monitor employment clearances, background checks, and state-specific compliance requirements. Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation. Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws. Support audits and reporting as needed. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Participate in HR meetings and organizational initiatives. Recommend improvements to onboarding and employee experience processes. Support special HR projects and other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of Human Resources experience. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Experience managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Preferred Experience in healthcare or multi-state employment. Experience administering leaves of absence. Experience with HRIS systems such as Gusto. SHRM-CP or PHR certification. Ideal Candidate We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people.
