VOLUNTEER AI Signal Interpretation & Embedded Voice Systems Engineer Location: Virginia Beach, VA (Remote ) Reports To: Founding President & CEO Status: Volunteer Opportunity Summary We’re seeking brilliant and driven engineers to help build the core technologies behind a mission-driven company with huge humanitarian ambitions. You’ll work directly with the founder on real, deployment-ready systems with the chance to help lay the foundation of a high-performance engineering culture. This role focuses on how devices listen, respond, and regulate—in sync with the user’s voice, tone, breath, and behavior. What You’ll Do • Develop responsive audio-based systems inside custom hardware • Work with signal inputs to shape user-aware experiences • Build interfaces that adjust dynamically based on real-time feedback • Contribute to next-gen assistive product development • Collaborate on embedded software, interaction models, and prototyping • Help define the culture, standards, and systems of a new engineering department Technologies for This Role • Languages: Python, C++, JavaScript, Rust • Frameworks: TensorFlow Lite, PyTorch, WebRTC, Node.js • Systems: Embedded Linux, Git, Docker, low-power edge devices • Applications: Audio signal processing, real-time interaction models, emotion-aware AI, voice interface tuning, multimodal sensor analysis • Audio signal processing & pattern recognition • Embedded systems & edge devices • Low-latency voice interface frameworks • Multimodal sensor data fusion • Lightweight ML models for constrained environments • Real-time system architecture (IoT, wearables, robotics) • Adaptive UX for responsive product behavior • Custom hardware + software integration pipelines What We're Looking For • Senior (or recent graduate) in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field. • Demonstrated hands-on experience building functional prototypes or real-world systems • Proficiency in Python, C++, and JavaScript, with experience using embedded or robotics-related frameworks • Working knowledge in AI/ML (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and real-time interaction systems. • Strong systems-level thinker with an eye for scalability, risk, and technical longevity • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal • Self-driven, mature, adaptable, and ready to take ownership in a fast-moving R&D environment Compensation & Growth This is a 100% volunteer position right now. This is a builder’s role in the startup realm. For a great fit, reaching funding milestones could potentially unlock structured equity upsides in the future, but this is not a job offer or a promise of future rewards.
