Job Description: • The Director of Cash Application & Credit Management provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of enterprise-wide cash posting, reconciliation, and credit/refund management processes. • This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all payment, credit, and refund workflows, while driving innovation, automation, and collaboration to optimize cash flow and support the organization’s financial integrity. • Provide enterprise-level direction for cash posting, credit management, and refund processes, aligning operations with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. • Develop and implement policies, workflows, and technology strategies that maximize automation, reduce manual intervention, and improve accuracy in cash application. • Drive adoption of advanced solutions (835 enrollment, AI/automation, reconciliation tools) to enhance efficiency and scalability. • Ensure accurate reconciliation of deposits, payment postings, bank activity, and clearinghouse transactions. • Establish robust controls and audit practices to minimize discrepancies, mitigate risk, and maintain compliance with payer contracts and federal/state regulations. • Deliver executive reporting on unposted cash, credit balances, refund liabilities, and payment trends to inform financial planning and decision-making. • Partner with billing, collections, denials, managed care, IT, and compliance leaders to resolve systemic issues and streamline end-to-end revenue cycle workflows including transaction code mapping and standardization. • Serve as the senior escalation point for payers and stakeholders to resolve recurring posting, credit, and refund issues. • Collaborate with Patient Financial Services leadership to ensure accurate and transparent patient account balances and refund experiences. • Define and monitor KPIs for cash posting accuracy, timeliness, credit resolution, and refund processing. • Lead root cause analysis of variances, delays, and process breakdowns, implementing corrective action plans and long-term process improvements. • Provide executive dashboards and insights that measure performance, unposted cash flow, and support organizational strategy. Requirements: • Preferred Credential(s): Accountant. Licensure required relevant to state in which work is performed • High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management. • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field; Master’s preferred. • 8–10 years of progressive revenue cycle leadership experience with significant responsibility in cash application and AR management. • Proven success in implementing automation/technology solutions for payment posting and reconciliation. • Strong knowledge of payer rules, healthcare reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and revenue cycle best practices. • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with ability to influence across functions and at the executive level.
