The Role Artlist’s Legal team is looking for a Junior Legal Counsel to join our growing New York office and work closely with our Sales, Product, HR, and Business teams. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a lawyer who wants broad exposure across commercial transactions, product and AI initiatives, employment matters, and day-to-day legal operations in a fast-scaling tech company. You’ll be trusted early, work cross-functionally, and help shape how legal supports the business as we grow. This is a hands-on, high-exposure role in a fast-paced tech environment where legal is a true business partner. What you’ll do Commercial & Revenue Support Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including enterprise licenses, SaaS agreements, NDAs, and vendor agreements. Partner closely with Sales to support deal velocity while managing legal risk. Review customer terms and procurement requirements across multiple jurisdictions. Product, Technology & AI Support product launches, feature rollouts, and updates to terms & policies. Work on AI-related initiatives, including data use, licensing, and product functionality. Collaborate cross-functionally on legal issues related to content licensing, intellectual property, and emerging technologies Employment & People Matters Support day-to-day employment law matters, including offer letters, contractor agreements, policies, and employee lifecycle issues. Partner with HR on compliance, internal processes, and employee relations questions across the US and international teams. Legal Operations & Scaling Help maintain and improve legal templates, playbooks, and internal processes. Use legal tech tools (e.g., contract management systems) to track work, manage priorities, and improve efficiency. Contribute to building scalable legal infrastructure as the company grows. What success looks like Commercial deals move quickly with clear, practical legal support Sales and business teams feel supported and confident involving Legal early in deals Commercial agreements are negotiated efficiently without unnecessary friction Risk is managed pragmatically while enabling revenue growth Processes, templates, and legal operations scale efficiently as the company grows Legal enables product, AI, licensing, and policy work with balanced risk management Employment and HR matters are handled smoothly and proactively You are A NY-admitted attorney with up to 2 years of post-qualification experience (excluding internships), either in-house at a tech company or at a reputable law firm. Comfortable working across commercial contracts and eager to expand into product, AI, and employment matters. Business-minded, pragmatic, and able to explain legal issues clearly to non-legal stakeholders. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Curious, proactive, and excited to take ownership and grow with the role. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York.
