Job Overview The Senior Accountant is responsible for working closely with finance team members to ensure a smooth, timely, and accurate month-end close process. This position, reporting to the Accounting Manager must be able to perform account reconciliations, maintain the general ledger, and perform other accounting duties as assigned. A working knowledge of accounts payable and receivable will be helpful to understand the business. Responsibilities: · Obtain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure of the business · Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly journal entries · Assist with the month-end close process · Analyzes balance sheet accounts monthly, ensuring their overall accuracy and integrity · Support the Assistant Controller with investigations to explain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial variances · Receive and verify expense reports · Complete credit applications for new vendors · Responsible for timely and accurate payments to vendors · Assists with monthly financial review and year-end review statement process · Provide accounting support to other departments for special projects/ad-hoc reporting and analysis as necessary · Cross-train with and back up other finance department employees · Continuously improve processes to reduce manual efforts Required Skills/Abilities: · Bachelor’s degree in accounting required · 3-5 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience. Public Accounting experience preferred · Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and knowledge of formulas are essential) · Understanding of accounting principles, concepts, and practices · Self-motivated, problem solver with strong attention to detail · Ability to work both independently and in a team environment · Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, meet deadlines, and follow up effectively · Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work cooperatively with individuals at all levels of the business · Willingness to expand the range of responsibilities as needed based on the needs of the company and the role Job Type: Full-time Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year Benefits: • 401(k) matching • Dental insurance • Employee discount • Flexible spending account • Health insurance • Paid time off • Referral program • Vision insurance Ability to Commute: • Taunton, MA 02780 (Preferred) Work Location: In person
