Washington Street, Phoenix, AZ 85007 Posting Details: Salary: $90K-$95K Grade: 25 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Job Summary: We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Lean Coach to join our team. In this role, you will facilitate continuous improvement through the use of Lean Tools and Methodologies, by participating in projects in all aspects of the agency, and working with colleagues and functional leaders in accomplishing project goals. This position will also serve as a resource to lead high visibility projects resulting in process improvements and waste reduction. This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements). Job Duties: • Assist section unit leadership in the day to day efforts of facilitating continuous improvement through the use of lean tools and methodologies by participating in projects across the value stream and working with colleagues and functional leaders in accomplishing project goals. • Coordinate and conduct training for the section units on lean tools (AMS Tools and Principles Workshops, AMS Behaviors and Coaching, Standard Work, Kaizen, Visual Management, and NEO). • Facilitate project team meetings and provide guidance and support to Project Team Leaders. Work in teams to identify problems, analyze information, and develop and implement process solutions. Identify barriers to success and solicit help from leadership when needed. • Routinely interact with teams and project leaders to ensure that projects are on track. Compile information to support visual management tools for the value stream. Reports to section unit leadership as required on progress of projects. • Assist in identification, prioritization, and selection of potential projects throughout the section units to optimize existing processes for waste reduction and cost control. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): KNOWLEDGE: • Knowledge of or the ability to learn and apply lean concepts, principles and tools used to create and deliver the most value from the customer's perspective while consuming the fewest resources, and engaging people in continuous problem solving. • Extensive knowledge of process improvement and management frameworks. • Knowledge of business practices and processes; continuous improvement principles and methods through Kaizen events and projects. • Knowledge of or the ability to learn, section unit products, services, customers, and processes, and how state and federal regulatory framework can affect values stream products, services, and processes. SKILLS: • Excellent analytical skills with ability to focus on high-level strategic plan down to detailed tactical project plans. • Strong skills in program and project management; organizational skills; data analysis; team facilitation and leadership; and relationship building. • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and in Mural and Trello. • Proficiency implementing process improvement within section unit projects. • Skilled in verbal and written communication; customer service and the ability to effectively interact with a wide range of internal and external customers. ABILITIES: • Ability to promote effective team development and encourage collaboration across large teams; develop strong working relationships with team members, peers, and management at all levels; address conflicts and obstacles and guide teams to achieve desired results. • Ability to thrive in a challenging work environment to consistently deliver quality service and help section units serve the citizens effectively. • Ability to transform a project vision into a defined scope and drive results while working with available resources and time line requirements. • Ability to speak to all audiences through the organization, understanding the various needs of audience members, and tailoring the message to address their concerns. • Ability to respond to inquiries with tact, diplomacy, and appropriate timely information. Selective Preference(s): • Bachelor's degree in the field of environmental management, operations management, engineering, business administration, or other related discipline. • 3 or more years of relevant business or project management experience that demonstrates the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast paced environment. Experience applying lean and leading team-based problem-solving events.
