Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical Director to lead and oversee all clinical operations within our licensed Substance Abuse and Mental Health treatment facility. The Clinical Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based care while maintaining compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards. This leadership role requires strong clinical judgment, regulatory knowledge, team development skills, and the ability to maintain a positive and accountable treatment culture. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Oversight • Oversee all clinical programming including individual therapy, group therapy, case management, and treatment planning • Provide supervision and guidance to licensed and unlicensed clinical staff • Ensure implementation of evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care • Review and approve treatment plans, progress notes, and clinical documentation Compliance & Quality Assurance • Ensure compliance with state licensing, Medicaid/insurance requirements, and accreditation standards (CARF, Joint Commission, etc., if applicable) • Develop and maintain clinical policies and procedures • Monitor documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and medical necessity • Lead internal audits and support external inspections Program Development • Assist in development and expansion of clinical programming • Evaluate outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives • Support census growth while maintaining clinical integrity Team Development • Hire, train, and evaluate clinical staff • Provide ongoing supervision and performance management • Foster a collaborative, ethical, and client-centered environment Collaboration & Communication • Participate in leadership meetings • Work closely with nursing, medical, operations, and admissions teams • Serve as clinical representative to referral sources and community partners Qualifications • Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field • Active and unrestricted state licensure (LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, PsyD, or equivalent) • Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in substance abuse and/or mental health treatment • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred • Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria and levels of care • Experience with co-occurring disorders • Thorough understanding of documentation standards and medical necessity Preferred Experience • Experience in Detox, Residential, and PHP, settings • Accreditation experience (Joint Commission) • Experience with insurance authorizations and utilization review Skills & Competencies • Strong leadership and decision-making ability • High level of organization and attention to detail • Excellent written and verbal communication • Ability to balance compliance with compassionate care • Conflict resolution and team-building skills Compensation & Benefits • Competitive salary based on experience • Health, dental, and vision benefits • Paid time off • Professional development support
