Salary: $70 - $82 Hourly Job Position: Senior Software Engineer (Backend) (California, US-based) We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to join our backend engineering team focused on building scalable, reliable, and high-performance services for our FAST, AVOD and SVOD offerings. Youll help architect and implement core APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and integrations that power live linear and VOD experiences across millions of users. This is a high-impact role ideal for engineers who thrive in fast-paced environments, love tackling complex distributed systems problems, and are passionate about streaming media. This position will be on-site with our client, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and will report directly to the client regarding the project. Job Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain backend services powering our FAST channels (e.g. EPG, ad insertion, content scheduling, metadata, etc.) • Build and optimize APIs for content ingestion, scheduling, and delivery • Collaborate with product, DevOps, and ad tech engineering teams to design scalable microservices architectures • Integrate with third-party services such as SSAI (server-side ad insertion), CDN APIs, content catalogs, and analytics • Drive best practices for code quality, observability, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines Job Qualifications • Must be based in California and willing to work onsite. • 5+ years of experience in backend development using C# • Deep understanding of distributed systems, API design, and microservices • Experience with cloud-native development (AWS, Azure), serverless architecture • Experience in streaming technologies: FAST channel, HLS/DASH, ad insertion (SSAI/DAI), or playout automation • Strong knowledge of monitoring, observability, and logging tools, e.g., Prometheus, CloudWatch, ELK • Excellent problem-solving skills and a product-minded engineering mindset Nice to Have: • Experience with video encoding/transcoding workflows • Familiarity with SCTE-35, manifest manipulation, or VAST/VPAID ad protocols • Experience building EPG (Electronic Program Guide) or metadata services Job Work Set up: • Onsite (Office Location: Culver City, CA) - Mondays to Thursdays / Remote - Fridays • 40 work hours/week • Full-Time Position with Benefits - Includes Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage through HMO.
