We are seeking an expert SAP S/4HANA Finance Solutions Advisor to serve as the critical techno-functional link between our business goals and the technical execution of our major SAP S/4HANA transformation. This is a high-impact advisory role focused on design governance, technical review, and ensuring solution integrity across core SAP Finance and its integrated landscape. Key Responsibilities • Solution Design & Governance: Serve as the primary Solutions Advisor for the Finance workstream, ensuring the end-to-end design and configuration aligns with best practices and minimizes technical debt. • Techno-Functional Expertise: Actively review and guide the solutioning of custom development objects (RICEFWs – Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflows), leveraging prior ABAP development experience to critically assess technical specifications and pseudo-code. • S/4HANA Implementation: Apply hands-on S/4HANA Finance implementation expertise (configuration and business process knowledge) in a modern cloud environment (SAP S/4 Rise on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). • System Integration: Oversee and advise on complex integrations with satellite applications (e.g., SAC, DataSphere, PowerPlan, OpenText), ensuring robust and scalable data flow. • Methodology & Delivery: Actively collaborate in sprints using a hybrid Agile methodology and SAP Activate. Utilize tools like SAP Cloud ALM or Signavio for process documentation and management. • Advisory Leadership: Provide critical solution leadership, challenge customization decisions, and advocate for standard SAP solutions to drive consistency and operational efficiency. • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with System Integrators, Finance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, providing clear, concise communication and documentation review. Experience & Technical Skills • 10+ years of overall SAP experience, with significant, recent hands-on S/4HANA Finance implementation experience. • Proven Techno-Functional Blend, demonstrated by the ability to configure core SAP FICO while providing credible guidance on technical development. • Prior ABAP development experience is required (ability to review, guide, and challenge development, not primarily a hands-on coding role). • Experience with SAP S/4 Rise in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). • Familiarity with financial reporting, planning, and data solutions (e.g., SAC, DataSphere, BPC). Preferred Qualifications • Industry experience in a Utility or asset-intensive environment. • Experience with a Bluefield implementation approach. • Specific knowledge of integrated financial applications (e.g., OpenText VIM, PowerPlan). Work & Education • Location: Preference for local Southern California candidates. • Hybrid Schedule: Commitment to a hybrid schedule requiring 1 day per week onsite (3 weeks per month) plus 1 full onsite week per month. Remote candidates must commit to this required travel. • Education: Bachelor’s degree is required.
