Full Description

Job Summary We are seeking a Director of Credentialing and Compliance Operations to build, lead, and scale the credentialing infrastructure supporting the Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP) — a nationwide healthcare staffing initiative with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced, low-ego, high-output environment. The Director will oversee a distributed credentialing and compliance team, architect scalable workflows, and drive implementation of new technology solutions that elevate speed, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. We’re looking for a process-driven leader who thrives on building structure from complexity — someone who pairs strategic vision with operational precision and inspires teams to execute flawlessly under pressure. Primary Responsibilities Leadership and Team Development Lead a growing team of credentialing and compliance specialists across multiple task orders and healthcare disciplines. Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable for accuracy, speed, and follow-through. Build a culture of collaboration, clarity, and continuous improvement — where everyone leads with humility and delivers at a high level. Provide ongoing training and feedback to elevate team capability and autonomy. Operational Strategy and Process Design Architect, document, and refine credentialing workflows to ensure consistency, audit readiness, and scalability. Establish clear ownership models and checkpoints to minimize errors and eliminate redundancy. Translate strategic goals into detailed execution plans that align people, process, and technology. Collaborate with recruiting, HR, and IT to ensure seamless integration between credentialing, onboarding, and compliance functions. Compliance and Quality Oversight Maintain full organizational compliance with Joint Commission, VA, and internal credentialing standards. Develop and enforce internal QA/QC protocols to ensure error-free credentialing packets. Conduct internal audits, root-cause analyses, and corrective action planning to maintain audit readiness. Proactively identify compliance gaps and implement standardized solutions across contracts. Technology and Process Modernization Lead the integration and rollout of new credentialing systems and automation tools over the next 1–2 months. Map existing workflows, define data standards, and oversee change management to ensure successful adoption. Build dashboards and reporting mechanisms to track KPIs such as turnaround time, accuracy rate, and audit outcomes. Cross-Functional and External Coordination Serve as the operational hub for all credentialing-related communication with internal leaders, suppliers, and government partners. Collaborate closely with program and project managers to align credentialing progress with contract deadlines. Support proposal and business development teams by advising credentialing feasibility, compliance risk, and implementation strategies. Minimum Qualifications 7+ years of experience in healthcare operations, credentialing, or compliance, including 3+ years leading teams or process improvement initiatives. Demonstrated success designing and implementing scalable, technology-driven workflows in a regulated environment. Deep understanding of Joint Commission, VA, NCQA, or comparable credentialing and compliance frameworks. Proven ability to direct and motivate a remote team in a fast-moving, high-accountability setting. Strong project management, analytical, and systems-thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex requirements with clarity and authority. Experience leading change and fostering alignment across departments and stakeholders. Desired Qualifications Experience credentialing for federal healthcare contracts or the Department of Veterans Affairs. Familiarity with credentialing or workflow systems such as Symplr, iCIMS, HireRight, or HSH. Background in process automation, compliance technology, or operations modernization. Certifications such as CPCS, CPMSM, or Lean/Six Sigma highly desirable. Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Compliance, or Operations Management. Equivalent combination of education and progressive leadership experience may be considered.
