Full Description

Job Summary Aptive Resources is seeking a Data Analyst to support the evaluation of SAMHSA’s 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and Zero Suicide initiatives. This role will play a critical part in advancing data-driven insights that inform national behavioral health strategy, crisis system performance, and suicide prevention efforts. The Data Analyst will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to collect, manage, analyze, and interpret complex datasets related to crisis services, healthcare systems, and program implementation. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, experience working with large and sensitive datasets, and a passion for using data to improve behavioral health outcomes. Primary Responsibilities Key responsibilities include cleaning and managing quantitative and qualitative data; conducting statistical analyses to evaluate program performance, service utilization, and outcomes; developing dashboards, visualizations, and reports for federal stakeholders; and supporting the preparation of technical deliverables and evaluation briefs. The Data Analyst will collaborate with subject matter experts, project managers, and other evaluation team members to translate findings into actionable insights, ensure data integrity, and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts. Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of relevant experience conducting data analysis in support of program evaluation, public health, healthcare services, or behavioral health initiatives. Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Statistics, Data Science, Social Sciences, Health Services Research, or a related quantitative field. Demonstrated experience managing, cleaning, and analyzing large and complex datasets. Proficiency in statistical software such as R, SAS, Stata, Python, or Excel Power Query; experience with SQL for data extraction and manipulation. Experience developing data visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms. Experience with automated processes, including building automated pipelines and documenting clear data workflows. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Desired Qualifications Experience supporting federal contracts, particularly with HHS agencies such as SAMHSA, CDC, CMS, or HRSA. Familiarity with crisis services systems, suicide prevention initiatives, behavioral health policy, or healthcare quality improvement frameworks (e.g., Zero Suicide model). Experience analyzing call center, healthcare utilization, Medicaid/claims, workforce, or public health surveillance data. Knowledge of implementation science, mixed-methods evaluation approaches, or quasi-experimental study designs. Experience working with large administrative datasets and integrating multiple data sources. Understanding of health equity frameworks and experience analyzing disparities in behavioral health outcomes. Experience preparing technical reports, evaluation briefs, or peer-reviewed publications for federal audiences. Active Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.
