Full Description

Job Summary We’re seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Credentialing Specialist to support our growing credentialing team for the Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP), a nationwide healthcare staffing initiative for the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is a mid-level role designed for someone ready to take ownership of credentialing tasks while learning to operate with increasing independence and leadership. You’ll work closely with the Program Manager and other staff to support full-cycle credentialing, conduct quality reviews, and guide junior staff. The ideal candidate is a fast learner who can integrate feedback quickly, ask smart questions, and take initiative to improve their own workflow over time. This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow into a leadership position while helping build scalable, high-quality credentialing operations. Primary Responsibilities Perform full-cycle credentialing support for clinical and non-clinical staff, including document collection, verification, and tracking. Review contracts and task orders to help identify required credentials and documentation standards. Conduct quality checks of credentialing packets to ensure compliance with internal and VA requirements. Proactively track progress and follow up with candidates and partners as needed to keep onboarding on schedule. Respond to document- and candidate-specific questions (e.g., titer validity, unclear records) and escalate only when appropriate. Collaborate with junior credentialing staff to provide guidance based on internal processes and best practices. Incorporate feedback into daily work and continuously refine workflow for clarity, speed, and compliance. Maintain up-to-date trackers and SOPs to ensure accountability and documentation consistency. Minimum Qualifications 2+ years of credentialing or healthcare onboarding experience. Strong attention to detail and ability to track and manage multiple credentialing files at once. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements or feedback. Strong communication and problem-solving skills; proactive in asking questions and applying answers. Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment with distributed teams. Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Degree in healthcare administration, public health, nursing, or a related field is a plus. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Desired Qualifications Experience credentialing for VA or other federal healthcare systems. Familiarity with systems such as iCIMS, HireRight, or HSH. Interest in process improvement and developing into a credentialing lead role over time.
