Job Title: Senior Technical Instructor – IT & Emerging Technologies Reporting Structure: Reports to Sr. Director of Program Development & Education, with a dotted line to Sr. Manager of Training Operations FLSA Classification: Exempt General Classification: Salary, Full-Time, Regular Location: Remote, from United States Position Summary The Senior Technical Instructor serves as a lead educator, instructional designer, and curriculum developer for Apprenti’s Future Skills Institute (FSI). This full-time, high-impact role is crucial to training the next generation of tech talent. It blends: • Expert, Hands-on Instruction: Delivering engaging, project-based training across critical technology disciplines, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, software development, AI fundamentals, data analytics, IT support, and IT business analysis. • Curriculum Leadership: Designing and continuously improving industry-aligned content, ensuring every module maps directly to employer demand, industry credentials, and national apprenticeship standards. • Program Management: Managing the Learning Management System (LMS) and providing mentorship and coaching to teaching assistants and adjunct instructors to ensure consistent, high-quality learning experiences. The ideal candidate is a dynamic adult learning specialist committed to translating complex technical concepts into job-ready competencies for every learner, and who will help shape the next generation of skilled technology professionals. Key Responsibilities This role requires a blend of hands-on technical instruction, adult learning expertise, and curriculum design across IT, AI, Cyber, or related technical domains. Instruction & Learning Facilitation • Deliver engaging, learner-centered technical training using hybrid, virtual, and in-person modalities. • Translate complex technical concepts into accessible, applied learning experiences for adult and early-career learners. • Facilitate hands-on labs, projects, and simulations that reflect real-world industry expectations. • Assess learner competency and provide ongoing coaching, progress reports, and support through office hours to ensure mastery of technical and professional skills. • Maintain a professional, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment conducive to active learning. Curriculum Development & Design • Design, develop, and continuously improve outcome-based curriculum (including lesson plans, labs, assessments, and multimedia assets) aligned with industry standards, employer needs, and credential frameworks. • Apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles to create engaging, outcome-driven content. • Build blended and online content using learning technologies, authoring tools, and lab environments. • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and industry partners to ensure all training content reflects current technologies and best practices. • Evaluate materials for accessibility, clarity, inclusivity, and alignment with accreditation standards. Faculty Support & Program Leadership • Mentor and support Teaching Assistants (TAs) and junior instructors by setting expectations, co-teaching, and providing structured feedback and training. • Collect and analyze training data (e.g., assessment results, completion rates) to drive continuous program and curriculum improvements. • Ensure course outcomes meet apprenticeship standards and employer needs in collaboration with program managers. • Represent the organization in industry forums and advisory groups, providing strategic recommendations to leadership focused on strong learner outcomes and job readiness. Education and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Instructional Technology, or a related field; OR equivalent industry experience; OR a certificate of completion/Journey-level certification from a related Registered Apprenticeship. • Technical Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in a core technical discipline (e.g., software development, cloud engineering, data analytics, IT operations, or cybersecurity). • Instructional Experience: 3+ years of experience delivering technical instruction in a classroom, virtual, or corporate training setting (or equivalent experience mentoring/teaching in an on-the-job setting). • Curriculum Development: Proven experience developing, maintaining, and reviewing technical curriculum, labs, digital learning modules, and performance-based assessments. Core Skills and Competencies • Instructional Expertise: Deep knowledge of modern instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, Backward Design) and strong command of adult learning theory and classroom management techniques. • Technical Fluency: Ability to quickly master, effectively teach, and clearly articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. • Mentorship & Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships, mentor instructors/TAs, and provide structured feedback to guide and motivate others. • E-Learning Proficiency: Experience with instructional technology, e-learning platforms (LMS), and multimedia authoring tools for creating engaging online and blended learning content. • Organization & Initiative: Highly organized with systematic planning skills; self-motivated with a high level of initiative and the ability to operate effectively with minimal day-to-day supervision. • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to find and implement creative solutions to complex instructional or technical challenges. • Integrity and trustworthiness; maintains confidentiality and privacy, admits mistakes, and meets commitments. Preferred Qualifications • Industry Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Engineer, CISSP). • Workforce Experience: Experience teaching within an apprenticeship, bootcamp, or formal workforce training environment. Working Conditions • Remote work. • Occasional travel to employer sites, partner campuses, or conferences. • May require evening or weekend classes to support cohort schedules. What We Offer Apprenti pays a gross annualized base salary range for this position between $95,000 and $110,000 based on qualifications, skills, experience, company values, and culture alignment.
