Public Health Program Manager (Part-Time, 0.25 FTE) Organization: Applied Fitness Solutions/More Than Movement Foundation Location: Remote (Michigan-based preferred) Time Commitment & Compensation: 0.25 FTE (approximately 10 hours/week) Compensation: $1,500–$2,500 per month, commensurate with experience Classification: Part-time, exempt contractor About More Than Movement Foundation The More Than Movement Foundation (MTM) is the nonprofit arm of Applied Fitness Solutions, created to extend AFS’s mission beyond the clinic and into the community by addressing one of Michigan’s most preventable and persistent inequities: access to safe, culturally relevant movement opportunities for low-income individuals and families. MTM exists to co-create solutions with community-based organizations (CBOs) that increase access to physical activity for low-income individuals and families—reducing inequities, strengthening community health, and restoring movement as a human right. MTM is in an early but pivotal build phase. Over the next three years, the organization is focused on establishing a validated, equity-centered CBO integration prototype in Washtenaw County that can be scaled statewide beginning in 2030. Role Overview The Program Manager plays a critical, hands-on role in building MTM’s foundational program infrastructure during its prototype phase. This individual will support community listening, pilot partnerships, documentation, and early program systems—ensuring MTM’s work is organized, partner-centered, and built for future scale. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in early-stage nonprofit environments, values equity-centered design, and is comfortable turning ideas, conversations, and pilots into clear systems and documentation. The Program Manager reports to the Executive Lead and works closely with board committees, community partners, and Applied Fitness Solutions (AFS) operational support. Key Responsibilities 1. Community-Based Organization (CBO) Engagement & Program Support Coordinate and support 12–15 structured CBO listening sessions • Manage scheduling, follow-up, and documentation related to listening sessions • Support onboarding and coordination of 2–3 pilot CBO partners • Serve as a consistent point of contact for early CBO relationships 2. Program Infrastructure & Documentation • Maintain MTM’s program documentation system (shared drive, templates, notes) • Draft and organize foundational program materials, including: • Listening session summaries • Pilot calendars and implementation notes • Early learning memos and summaries • Support development of MTM tools such as: • CBO Needs Assessment Framework • Partnership criteria and intake materials 3. Pilot Coordination & Learning Support • Assist with coordination of MTM 1.0 pilot implementation activities • Track timelines, deliverables, and early indicators of feasibility • Support light-touch data collection and learning documentation • Help translate pilot experiences into clear, repeatable insights 4. Governance & Internal Coordination • Support board and committee coordination (Programs, Development, Communications) • Prepare meeting agendas, notes, and follow-up action items • Help ensure alignment between program work, governance expectations, and equity commitments Desired Qualifications & Experience Required / Strongly Preferred • Experience in program coordination or management within a nonprofit, public health, community development, or social impact organization • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a limited-hour role • Comfort working with community-based organizations serving low-income or marginalized populations • Excellent written communication skills, particularly for summaries, documentation, and internal materials • High attention to detail and follow-through Helpful / Nice to Have • Experience with equity-centered or community-led program design • Familiarity with pilot programs, learning cycles, or “test and learn” models • Experience working in early-stage or startup nonprofit environments • Background in public health, physical activity, social services, or health equity Core Competencies & Values Fit Successful candidates will demonstrate: • A listen-first mindset and respect for community expertise • Comfort with ambiguity and iterative development • Strong alignment with MTM’s belief that movement is a human right • A collaborative, low-ego working style • A systems-oriented approach to organizing people, ideas, and documentation Growth Opportunity This role is designed as an early, foundational position.
