Category: RN City: JacksonState: TennesseeShift: Job Description Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Remote Patient Monitoring responsibilities will include the operational management of the Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) departments. Responsible for the direction and maintenance of technical proficiency in the Centralized Monitoring Unit, eICU and Virtual Care Department system wide. Coordinates, conducts, and supervises orientation and ongoing education programs for RPM personnel. Other responsibilities will include interviewing prospective candidates, assisting with the hiring process, evaluations, and monitoring staff compliance with policies, procedures, and outcomes. Facilitates and enhances clinical practice and professional development for assigned Nursing personnel, Monitor Techs, and Patient Access Representatives. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1.    Assist in the management of department operations, scheduling and monitoring staffing needs, and payroll. 2.    Responsible for scheduling and monitoring staffing needs 3.    Develop, implement and supervise educational/training programs for the Remote Patient Monitoring departments. 4.    Oversee staff competencies and ensure timely evaluations and competency checks. 5.    Evaluates employee performance, participates in counseling and reprimands, recommends promotions, salary increases, and dismissals for assigned personnel. 6.    May be required to provide backfill coverage for CMU Supervisor and eICU RN. 7.    Assists with and maintains orientation, clinical education and inservices of RPM employees. 8.    Assists with maintaining standards of regulatory agencies for the department. 9.    Responds to complaints and incidents, conducts investigations, takes corrective action, and prepares documentation. 10. Evaluates, recommends, and orders adequate supplies and equipment necessary for the delivery of quality patient care. 11. Evaluates, interprets, and implements hospital and nursing policies and procedures for the Remote Patient Monitoring departments and recommends changes as needed. 12. Assists with new software implementation and updates of the software for all RPM areas. 13. Develops and maintains a positive work climate and the overall team efforts. 14. Assists in establishing and maintaining the budget to ensure the cost-effectiveness of office operations. 15. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.  JOB SPECIFICATIONS:  EDUCATION: -     Completion of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree in nursing is required. -     Additional educational preparation in administrative techniques is desirable.  LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: -     Current licensure as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing for practice in the state of Tennessee. -     Responsible for Continuing Education Units annually. -     BLS/ACLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position. -     Additional certifications/competencies may be required at department discretion.  EXPERIENCE: -     At least 2 years continuous, current hospital nursing experience preferred. -     Previous management and supervisor experience preferred.  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: -     Skill and proficiency in the principles, concepts, and techniques of the nursing profession as normally acquired through the completion of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree in nursing.  INTERPERSONAL REQUIREMENTS: -     Communication skills needed for frequent contact with unit staff, medical staff, administration, other hospital departments, and community agencies. -     Relates effectively to patients and their families. -     Uses proper channels of communication. -     Contributes to a positive work environment and the overall team effort of the department.  DIRECTION/SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS: -     Assigns, monitors, and evaluates the performance of department staff. -     Serves as a role model. -     Demonstrates leadership and teaching ability.  PHYSICAL DEMANDS: -     Maintains good physical and emotional well-being. -     Ability to perform frequent moderate to heavy lifting and transporting of patients and equipment. -     Prolonged periods of standing and walking on a continuous basis. -     Requires extended periods of viewing computer with time at workstation -     Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform required tasks -     May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter, may require use of personal vehicle.  ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: -     Standard office conditions. -     Office environment that utilizes telephone conversation recording system. -     Employee is subject to having any and all telephone conversations recorded.  OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: -     Works well under pressure. -     Understands patient satisfaction is a top priority and is flexible and accommodating to meet the patient’s needs and protect patient’s dignity. -     Understands and adheres to West Tennessee Healthcare’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy. -     Assumes responsibility for ensuring continued professional growth. -     The employee is expected to adhere to all WTH policies and procedures.  PROTECTED HEALTHCARE INFORMATION: Minimum Necessary Requirement: This position has access to protected health information as defined in the Professional-Clinical category in WTH Management Guidebook Policy 7625. Employee will maintain confidentiality of protected health information and only access the minimum amount of protected health information necessary to perform job responsibilities.
