Job Summary: Andela is seeking a Media & External Relations Manager to expand our public relations execution capacity and help us scale meaningful storytelling through media, speaking engagements, network activation, and strategic visibility efforts. Reporting to the Senior Brand Communications Manager, this person will work alongside our agency partners and internal team to drive more consistent media coverage, accelerate speaking/podcast placements, and foster relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. You’ll be the execution engine for our PR strategy, transforming big ideas into high-impact stories, and ensuring our best narratives and speakers find the right platforms at the right time. Key Responsibilities: Media Relations Drive journalist outreach in coordination with agency partner Source and develop compelling client and technologist stories for media placement Monitor and identify trends to pitch our story during timely news moments Coordinate reporter interviews, follow-up, and media prep for spokespeople Maintain and organize press kit, reporter database, and placement tracker Speaking Engagements & Podcasts Identify and pitch earned opportunities for Andela leaders Track speaker and podcast pipelines and maintain internal calendar Coordinate briefing documents and speaker logistics Collaborate with social media team to repurpose audio/video into social clips and owned content Relationship Management Manage and grow relationships with media contacts, podcast producers, editors, and industry gatekeepers Coordinate with internal and external partners, board members, investors, and consultants (e.g., John Winsor) for warm intros and opportunities for engagements Support strategic partnership storytelling (e.g., GitHub, CNCF) Qualifications: 3–5 years of experience in PR, media relations, or communications, ideally in B2B tech or future-of-work space Strong understanding of the media landscape and ability to secure placements without heavy reliance on paid channels Experience sourcing and shaping thought leadership stories for earned channels Highly organized project manager able to juggle multiple moving parts, deadlines, and stakeholders Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Comfortable working cross-functionally with executives, marketing, partnerships, and product Preferred but Not Required Experience working with PR agencies and freelance writers Global media experience or comfort navigating multiple regional contexts Familiarity with tech hiring, AI, remote work, or developer ecosystems #LI-REMOTE #LI-RDR
