Job Summary The Regional Operations Manager will be a key leader in overseeing and optimizing operations related to CDL training programs, managing profit and loss (P&L) for their specified business segment, and fostering staff development. This role requires expertise in CDL program administration, regulatory compliance, financial oversight, and a strong commitment to developing a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities • CDL Program Oversight & Compliance: • Provide subject matter expertise on all aspects of running a successful, high-quality, compliant, and safe CDL program. • Ensure adherence to all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and state regulatory agency regulations. • Develop and administer program director and instructor training programs, and assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training of new CDL staff. • Manage fleet activities, including acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of vehicles, and implement plans to maximize truck efficiency. • P&L Management & Efficiency: • Assist in meeting and/or exceeding CDL revenue and profitability goals. • Develop, recommend, and implement cost-saving measures through labor, equipment, and fuel programs. • Regularly review and make recommendations to improve efficiency across all aspects of the CDL business. • Balance CDL schedule demands with business cost drivers. • Staff Development & Leadership: • Lead and develop others, providing clearly defined roles and objectives for staff, monitoring performance, and providing feedback. • Coach and mentor staff to develop careers and improve individual and team performance. • Identify individual and team skill gaps and developmental opportunities (e.g., training, special assignments, conferences, projects). • Resolve individual and group performance issues in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork. • Recommend employees for lateral rotations and promotions to provide opportunities for new skills and increased responsibility. Experience and Education Required • Minimum 5 years of Management experience. • Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership, Business Administration, or other related field. • Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations. • Multi-site oversight experience. • Track record of growing leaders and independent thinkers. • Ability to drive results in a matrix organizational structure. • Ability to translate complex regulatory details into compliant and practical programs. • Demonstrated ability to establish and execute a detailed operating plan on schedule and within budget. • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, executives, peers, and subordinates. • Effective and impactful leadership skills. Experience and Education Preferred • 5+ years of Management experience. • Master’s Degree in Leadership, Business Administration, or other related field.
