DESCRIPTION The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations across assigned lines to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are met. This role provides direct supervision of hourly production employees, owns daily production scheduling and priorities, and ensures consistent execution of company policies, operational standards, and performance expectations. The Production Supervisor partners closely with Line Leads, Operations, HR, Quality, and Maintenance to drive results and continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Plan, create, and manage the daily production schedule, including part sequencing, line priorities, and workflow, to meet customer schedules and quality standards. • Oversee and supervise daily production activities across all assigned lines to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives are met. • Ensure optimal workflow and coordination across production lines and adjust priorities and resources as needed. • Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, proper use of equipment, and adherence to standard operating procedures. • Identify bottlenecks, analyze root causes, and implement or drive process improvements to increase throughput and reduce downtime. • Track, review, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) including output, labor, downtime, scrap, and rework. • Maintain accurate production records and prepare reports for management related to productivity, quality, and performance. • Ensure proper operation, care, and availability of production equipment. • Oversee preventive maintenance execution and support troubleshooting efforts. • Review equipment downtime trends and lead actions to improve reliability. • Enforce company safety policies, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations. • Promote a culture of safety, cleanliness, and accountability on the production floor. • Conduct or oversee safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions in partnership with HR and Operations. • Ensure adherence to quality standards, work instructions, and customer requirements. • Collaborate with the Quality team to resolve issues, reduce defects, and prevent recurrence. • Participate in internal, customer, and third-party audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained. • Participate in hiring decisions, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions in partnership with HR. • Communicate production priorities, expectations, and changes clearly to Line Leads and production teams. • Ensure compliance with company policies, labor guidelines, and operational procedures. • Serve as the primary leadership presence on the production floor and model professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a steady, supportive leader who is proactive and solutions-oriented. The ability to guide a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, while balancing safety, quality, and productivity, is essential. Adaptability to the daily challenges of a specialty surface coating and finishing business is key to ensuring consistent results and meeting the expectations of both internal teams and external customers. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Production Supervisor in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a related industry. • Strong understanding of production processes, workflow scheduling, and resource management. • Demonstrated ability to effectively use ERP and HCM systems for production planning, labor tracking, and reporting. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) with the ability to create reports, analyze data, and present information clearly. • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and hold team members accountable. • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities under time-sensitive conditions. • Solid knowledge of workplace safety standards and regulatory compliance (OSHA, environmental, etc.). • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across departments. • Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced production environment. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Work is performed primarily on the production floor with regular exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures. • Requires frequent walking, standing, and monitoring of operations across different areas of the facility. • Must be able to occasionally bend, reach, or lift items up to 50 pounds in support of production activities. • Requires flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to work extended hours or weekends based on production needs. • Regular interaction with employees, management, and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
