Solution Architect Mobile & Web (BFF / API Architecture) Location: Remote (Seattle, WA based Client & Local candidates preferred) Remote with Travel (as needed) Rate: Negotiable Employment Type: Contract Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to design and lead multi-layer architecture solutions for modern Web and Mobile applications. This role requires deep technical expertise across mobile frameworks, API orchestration, microservices, and cloud-native environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background with progression into architecture and hands-on experience guiding development teams through design and implementation. Key Responsibilities • Define and design multi-layer architecture including: • Client layer (Mobile & Web) • BFF (Backend-for-Frontend) / Orchestration layer • API Gateway layer • Service integration layer • Architect experience APIs and orchestration patterns across enterprise services (UCPC, UCPR, Location services, and related domains). • Provide hands-on technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, and implementation guidance. • Drive architectural decisions across: • Mobile and web frameworks • API design standards • Caching strategies • CDN strategy • Security architecture • Observability and monitoring • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, CIAM, Payments, Anti-Fraud, and Platform teams to ensure cohesive architecture. • Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements including scalability, performance, reliability, and security. Required Skills & Experience • Strong background in Mobile Application Development • Experience designing and implementing BFF / Orchestration layers • Experience with API Gateways (Apigee preferred) • Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, CIAM flows, and token security • Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architecture • Experience with CDN strategies and caching mechanisms • Prior hands-on engineering experience progressing into architecture Nice to Have • Experience working in high-traffic consumer platforms • Experience with Payments and Anti-Fraud integrations • Exposure to enterprise identity platforms (CIAM)
