Full Description

Amex Distributing Company specializes in cold storage and warehousing services for the fresh produce industry. We offer 50,000+ square feet of storage space, with 6 cold rooms and 2 air tunnels. Our warehouses are audited and certified by accredited third parties on GFSI and NOP standards. The ideal candidate will be professional, responsible, punctual, able to move/stand – sometimes for long periods, comfortable in a cold storage environment with strong communication skills (oral/written). The Quality Control Technician will be responsible for the monitoring of all fresh produce, packaging materials, and documentation according to food safety and quality systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives. Key Responsibilities Include: • Responsible for visually inspecting fresh produce to identify quality issues and assisting with product repacking as needed. • Preparation of inspection reports. • Remove any distressed product, determine what product needs reworking and what product should be discarded. • Rework all distressed/damaged products. • Communicate quality issues to buyers, sourcing, and inventory control manager. • Allocate product to orders (understand customer qc requirements). • Stage product prior to shipping. • Visit local warehouses to look at product. • Assist in inventory counts. Core Skills and Competencies • Strong communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, able to develop/maintain good relationships. • Ability to interact with others in a professional manner. • Solid understanding of produce varieties handled in a wholesale operation. • Experience working with Excel, Word, Outlook. • Experience using inspection tools (thermometer, refractometer, penetrometer, etc.). • Frequent lifting of the product up to 50 lbs. • Famous Software experience is a plus. • Bi-lingual (English / Spanish) a must. • Targeted area is within 10 miles of Pharr, TX or McAllen, TX.
