Overview: Our client, one of the largest Energy companies in US providing a wide range of Energy related products and services to its customers, seeks accomplished Gen AI Product Owner / Product Manager. • ** Candidate must be authorized to work in USA without requiring sponsorship *** • ********************************************************* • ** Location: New York, NY 10003 • ** Duration: 6 months contract w/ possibility of extension or conversion to FTE role (based on performance & business needs) Notes: • Work Schedule: Hybrid (2 days onsite, 3 days remote). • Work Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm. Major Objectives: • The Gen AI Product Owner / Product Manager will lead product and feature development for the Customer Operations AI Initiative, owning the backlog of use cases from intake through delivery, rollout, and adoption. This role is accountable for prioritization, requirements, stakeholder alignment, and delivery for an Agile team while helping shape governance, responsible AI practices, and continuous program improvements as the initiative scales. • The successful candidate will bring strong Product Management/Product Owner fundamentals and demonstrated experience leading meaningful transformation initiatives, major system changes, or large-scale implementations. The role requires someone who can translate business challenges into actionable product requirements, make informed prioritization decisions, manage competing stakeholder needs, and clearly communicate the rationale behind product and delivery decisions. • While prior Gen AI experience is preferred, strong overall Product Management maturity, stakeholder management, communication, problem-solving, and transformation experience are critical to success in this role. Responsibilities / Job Description: • Own the end-to-end use-case and product backlog, including intake, evaluation, prioritization, sequencing, refinement, and delivery based on business value, feasibility, dependencies, customer impact, and risk. • Translate Customer Operations business problems into clear problem statements, product requirements, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and measurable outcomes that technical teams can effectively execute. • Apply practical Product Management and prioritization approaches to evaluate competing requests, make informed trade-offs, and clearly communicate the rationale behind product decisions. • Serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders, subject matter experts, operations leaders, technical teams, vendors, and other cross-functional partners. • Lead discovery sessions, validate business and technical requirements, identify dependencies and risks, manage expectations, and maintain stakeholder alignment throughout the product lifecycle. • Build strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups while demonstrating the ability to remain firm on priorities, scope, and product decisions when necessary and adapt when business conditions or requirements change. • Define measurable success criteria for each use case, such as customer impact, deflection, handle time, accuracy, quality, adoption, operational efficiency, and other relevant business outcomes, and hold the team accountable for delivering against those measures. • Lead and facilitate Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement/grooming, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and release planning. • Track and communicate team velocity, sprint progress, release readiness, risks, dependencies, blockers, and overall delivery status to affected teams and management using appropriate Agile estimating and reporting techniques. • Ensure backlog items, daily task status, estimates, and hours are accurately maintained in Azure DevOps (ADO) or equivalent Agile tracking systems to provide transparency into team progress and delivery. • Contribute to significant transformation initiatives, system changes, or large-scale implementations by coordinating cross-functional activities, managing dependencies, supporting organizational readiness, and driving successful implementation and adoption. • Own responsible AI and governance touchpoints, including CREATe/PTA/Cyber intake, human-in-the-loop design, evaluation criteria, guardrail requirements, risk considerations, and appropriate governance documentation. • For Gen AI and AI-enabled products, partner closely with technical teams to establish evaluation criteria, quality thresholds, testing approaches, and practical definitions of when probabilistic AI solutions are ready for production use. • Drive change management, rollout, training, adoption, and user feedback loops to support successful implementation and continuous product improvement. • Conduct research and benchmarking on Gen AI trends, emerging capabilities, and comparable utility or enterprise deployments to inform product strategy and roadmap decisions. • Prepare and deliver clear presentations, product documentation, status updates, recommendations, and executive or regulatory share-outs that effectively communicate both strategy and execution. • Support a customer-centric culture by understanding and addressing the needs of internal and external stakeholders and incorporating customer and end-user feedback into product decisions. • Initiate and implement improvements across product management, governance, intake, prioritization, and delivery processes as the program evolves. • Perform other related responsibilities as required. Required Skills: • Bachelor's Degree required. • Proven experience managing an Agile product development team as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar product leadership role. • Strong, practical Product Management fundamentals with demonstrated experience in backlog management, prioritization, requirements definition, stakeholder management, product decision-making, cross-functional delivery, and roadmap or release planning. • Demonstrated experience contributing to or leading a meaningful business transformation, major system change, enterprise implementation, or other large-scale cross-functional initiative. • Ability to provide concrete examples of successfully taking products, features, capabilities, or major initiatives from problem identification and discovery through prioritization, delivery, implementation, and adoption. • Excellent stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence diverse groups, manage competing priorities, resolve disagreements, set expectations, and maintain alignment across business and technical teams. • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to clearly explain how priorities and trade-offs are evaluated when business value, technical feasibility, risk, timelines, and stakeholder needs compete. • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently and clearly with technical teams, business stakeholders, operational leaders, executives, and other highly engaged stakeholder groups. • Ability to balance relationship-building with appropriate firmness on priorities, scope, requirements, and delivery commitments while remaining adaptable when circumstances change. • Experience with SAFe and/or Agile program management practices and Agile tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent platforms. • Ability to manage multiple assignments, workstreams, dependencies, and changing priorities across a complex stakeholder ecosystem. • Experience producing formal presentations, business documentation, product requirements, status reporting, and materials for executive and/or regulatory audiences. • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint. • Previous experience managing employees, contractors, vendors, or cross-functional delivery resources. • Ability to work effectively and consistently with the team throughout the engagement and manage responsibilities without conflicting priorities or commitments that could affect delivery.
