Overview Our client, a provider of Health, Dental, Vision, Medicaid and Medicare Healthcare service plans in the state of California with 4.7 million members and $22.9 billion of annual revenues, seeks an accomplished Certified Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorization Job Title: Certified Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorization Location: Remote (California) Duration: 12+ Months (Contract, potential to convert) Pay Rate: $23.00 – $26.00/hour (W2) Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Must-Have Requirements: • Active California Certified Pharmacy Technician license. • Minimum 2 years of pharmacy-related experience (retail, hospital, or insurance). • Strong customer service background. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Job Description: The Pharmacy Technician will support the outpatient Pharmacy Benefit Prior Authorization program by coordinating and implementing procedures and guidelines. This role involves evaluating prior authorization requests, providing drug usage information, and ensuring efficient communication between physicians, pharmacies, and internal teams. Responsibilities: • Coordinate, assist, and support implementation of procedures and guidelines for the drug prior authorization program. • Evaluate prior authorization requests based on medication policy and operational principles. • Provide drug usage history and other pertinent pharmacy benefit information to assist in case-specific reviews and evaluations. • Communicate with physicians, office staff, pharmacies, and internal business partners to ensure accurate and efficient resolution of inquiries. • Clearly explain formulary alternatives, prior authorization criteria, and pharmacy benefit coverage as needed. Minimum Qualifications: • Active California Certified Pharmacy Technician license. • Minimum 2 years of pharmacy-related experience (retail, hospital, or insurance). Additional Qualifications: • Strong customer service background. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
