Responsibilities As a part-time, on-call Strategic Operations Lead for Border Security Initiatives with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following: Provide expert guidance on organizational strategic planning, policy development, and program implementation within a border security context. Use deep operational knowledge to lead the development, refinement, and communication of strategic roadmaps that align with agency and national security goals. Analyze trends and emerging threats to inform long-term operational and strategic initiatives. Collaborate with key stakeholders, e.g., components, offices, federal agencies, industry partners, ensuring alignment and integration of best practices. Design and facilitate workshops and strategy sessions to identify and prioritize mission-focused initiatives across immediate, mid-term, and future horizons. Develop and implement metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for effective tracking of strategic goals and accountability. Provide subject matter expertise in risk management, resource allocation, and scenario planning to optimize resource readiness and mission effectiveness. Advise leadership on the integration and potential impact of advanced technologies within operational strategies. Serve as a primary liaison for operational units, facilitating communication and alignment between field operations and headquarters. Oversee and support the acquisition, deployment, and fielding of new capability solutions, ensuring effective feedback and reporting mechanisms. Collect operational feedback, document best practices, and produce actionable reports and briefings for senior leadership and stakeholders. Qualifications CBP BI or Top Secret Clearance Required Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 15+ years of experience in CBP and strategic planning, acquisition, and system integration. Proficiency in capability gap analysis, cost analysis, and acquisition documentation. Understanding of Systems acquisition lifecycle (e.g. ALF and MD-102). Familiarity with IEEE standard 1012, IEEE Standard 829-1998, and the DHS SELC. Excellent writing, communications and briefing skills. Note: This is a part-time, on-call role with fewer than 1,040 hours per year. The targeted hourly rate is $72/hour, based on qualifications and experience. Pay Transparency Statement AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $113,400.00/Yr. - USD $189,300.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
