American Specialty Health Inc. – Carmel, IN Title: Software Engineer II Duties: The Software Engineer II at American Specialty Health Inc. in Carmel, IN will assist in design, development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of software applications. Perform routine programming assignments under Manager’s supervision. Develop a deeper understanding of assigned application and internal customer area, standards and techniques, and general business knowledge. Demonstrate understanding of departmental procedures, programming standards, and all pertinent training materials. Unit testing as applicable. Assist in providing time estimates of assigned tasks and compare estimates to actual time spent in order to improve estimating accuracy. Recommend possible improvements in applications. Troubleshoot production urgent issues, support cross team inquiries, evaluate and resolve team alerts received. Assist in system design architecture discussions with senior developers, providing ideas and proof of concepts. Research topics to present implementation or roadmap plan to team. Participate in Corporate Architectural & Solutions Teams (CAST) discussions to gain understanding of technical topics at organization level. Participate in focus groups from CAST to identify innovative solutions. Assist in developing the team technical standards and govern them through code Pull Request process and in technical meetings. Work with customer and vendor stakeholders as needed. Provide support to junior developers. This is a remote position from anywhere in the United States (except for CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, ME, MN, MT, NV, NJ, NY, OR, PA, PR, RI, WA and Washington, D.C.) Salary range: $79,414/year - $119,121/year Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field, plus 2 years of software engineering experience. Position also requires 2 years of experience with the following: (1) performing computer programming with ASP.Net, C# and T-SQL; (2) web development programming in a client/server setup; (3) relational database design, writing queries and stored procedures with MySQL or Microsoft SQL; (4) Object Oriented Analysis and Development within large enterprise-level applications; (5) development and consumption of web services; (6) XSLT and XML; (7) HTTP, C#, and SQL optimization; (8) software development lifecycles, including Agile or Scrum; (9) designing and architecting web components; and (10) software design patterns and SOLID design principles.
