Co-Director, Editorial Operations, Volunteer About the Pet Cancer Foundation The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Each year, an estimated 12 million dogs and cats are diagnosed with cancer, roughly six times the rate in humans. We’re working to change that. To help meet the scale of this challenge, PCF is building a powerful online information hub, filled with trustworthy medical and health content to serve pet owners everywhere. The Website Editorial Department is the engine behind that effort, and we’re looking for a highly organized, process-minded operations leader to help guide it forward. About the Position The Co-Director, Editorial Operations, is responsible for the infrastructure, tools, and workflows that support the effective functioning of the Website Editorial Department. This role oversees the technical documentation program and the full project lifecycle across the department’s teams. The Co-Director supervises the Quality Assurance Manager, Technical Documentation Team Leaders, and the team of Project Managers and Coordinators within the department. Working in collaboration with the Co-Director of Department Personnel, and reporting to the VP of Health Content, this position ensures that the department’s operational processes are fully documented, well-executed, and aligned with organizational standards. Duties and Responsibilities • Oversee the development, maintenance, and implementation of all department SOPs, process maps, editorial workflows, and standards documentation. • Provides operational oversight of the Quality Assurance and Audit processes that ensure all articles meet PCF’s rigid standards. • Supervise and support the Technical Documentation Team Leaders and their teams of technical writers and editors to ensure timely and accurate content delivery. • Leads the Portfolio Manager, Project Managers, and Coordinators to ensure smooth execution of editorial workflows, timelines, and inter-team dependencies. • Ensure the consistent application of project management practices, templates, and standards across all editorial teams. • Monitor content development workflows and project pipelines in collaboration with the VP of Health Content to ensure priorities are met. • Collaborate with the Co-Director of Personnel & Training to identify documentation or project management gaps that impact onboarding, training, or performance. • Ensure that documentation is reviewed and updated regularly in alignment with process improvements, editorial standards, or leadership feedback. • Provide mentorship and leadership to managers, setting goals, facilitating growth, and fostering accountability. About You You’re an experienced operations or PMO leader with a passion for well-run systems, high-functioning teams, and continuous improvement. You’ve led project or portfolio teams before, preferably in a volunteer or nonprofit setting, and you know how to keep moving pieces aligned. You bring confidence, clarity, and compassion to your leadership style, and you're excited by the opportunity to build a process infrastructure that helps save pet lives. You have: Qualifications • 10+ years of experience in project management, operations, or portfolio management roles • Experience leading documentation programs, editorial operations, or content production workflows • Prior experience supervising project managers, coordinators, or documentation teams • Demonstrated success managing complex projects with interdependent teams and deliverables • Willing to work with simple tools within the Google Suite of products for project tracking. • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to develop structure in evolving environments What We Provide You With Volunteering with PCF in this leadership role is an opportunity to support the delivery of a core pillar of our mission; empowering pet families with information to support their pet's wellbeing.
