Our Mission in Action Trees play a vital role in solving some of the most pressing issues facing our communities, our society, and our world today. As we look ahead to the next 150, continued collective action will be essential to securing a healthy, climate-resilient future for all. To support this work, we are looking for a Manger, Operations and Events to join our Urban Forestry team. What You’ll Do As a part of the team, the Manager of Operations and Events will work closely with the Director, Program Operations and Administration for Urban Forestry, to support external volunteer tree events, assist with building and maintaining the Tree Equity program’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and help facilitate/organize external and internal team convenings and activities. The Manager will gather information from events to record, store and provide key information that will help guide future event planning and even storytelling. The ideal candidate will be committed to getting results in a fast-paced environment. Major responsibilities include: Coordinating External Volunteer Tree Events (40%) * Coordinate tree events nationwide, in support of the Urban Forestry team * Assist in the development and processing of contracts and subawards with local partners, for tree event execution * Communicate with local municipalities, scout troops and councils, nonprofits, and community or corporate volunteer groups before, during, and after events * Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the successful planning and implementation of events * Manage travel logistics and event schedules (run of shows) for American Forests staff and partners Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Development and Maintenance (35%) * Serve as a point of contact for the team’s Airtable CRM system needs, related to local and national organizations, mayors and other elected officials, member networks and other partners.  * Create and maintain accurate CRM records, dashboards and reporting tools * Identify opportunities to enhance CRM functionality, workflows and data management practices * Help provide CRM training, trouble-shooting and day-to-day support to internal users Coordination of Urban Forestry Team Events (25%) * Support the planning and execution of both internal and external team events, including appearances and tabling at conferences, field site visits, and internal team meetings and retreats * Assist with travel arrangements, schedules, logistics and bookings for staff events * Help manage inventory, purchase supplies and materials and direct the shipment of those materials to event locations What We’re Looking For We don’t expect you to check every single box. We’re interested in your ability to learn, collaborate, and bring fresh perspectives. * Bachelor’s degree with a Business and/or non-profit management focus preferred; Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of. * Excellent writing and communication skills are required  * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (e.g., Airtable, Salesforce) essential * Ability to work independently, have strong business judgment and initiative, and be able to represent the organization in front of a variety of high-level contacts  * Experience in an environmental, conservation, or mission-driven nonprofit setting is preferred * Commitment to American Forests’ values and to advancing equitable climate solutions  Reporting and Supervision The Manager of Operations and Events reports to the Director of Program Operations and Administration for Urban Forestry. This position will work closely with the Tree Equity Program staff. This position does not have any direct reports at this time. Working Conditions This is a remote position based in the United States. Up to 15% of travel throughout the U.S. and/or to American Forests’ headquarters in Washington D.C. may be required. This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods and to operate a computer and other office equipment. Compensation & Benefits This is a full-time, salaried exempt position. This is a one-year position with extension pending future funding availability.
