ACP is proud to offer a summer internship program which runs for approximately 8 weeks from Tuesday, June 16 – Thursday, August 6, 2026. These positions are required to work on a hybrid office schedule out of our Washington, DC headquarters and, as such, applicants must be local to the DC area or able to relocate to DC for the 8-week period. Internships are paid $20/hour on a semi-monthly pay schedule. Position Overview The Digital Communications Intern supports ACP’s digital communications efforts across web, social media, and external messaging. This role contributes to content development, website management, digital optimization, and media support while providing exposure to how complex clean energy topics are translated for public and stakeholder audiences. Working closely with the Communications team, the intern will support day-to-day digital operations and longer-term initiatives, gaining insight into web strategy, digital storytelling, analytics, and communications workflows within a mission-driven organization. Contribute to the drafting and development of digital content for ACP’s website, social media channels, and communications materials. Participate in content development and promotion for clean power market research and reports, including email, web, and social assets. Help maintain and update website content, including homepage features, section-level modules, and other dynamic components. Apply visual assets from the ACP brand library across relevant digital platforms. Organize and maintain ACP’s YouTube content, including playlist curation, metadata updates, and accessibility improvements. Work with the team on media outreach preparation for trade, state, and local outlets. Review digital performance data using analytics tools to help assess user behavior, engagement, and content performance. Contribute to foundational on-page search engine optimization (SEO) efforts, including updates to alt text, page titles, and internal links. Collaborate on additional digital communications projects as needed to meet team priorities. Summer Project & Professional Development Over the course of the summer, the intern will contribute to one or more defined focus areas that provide exposure to the full lifecycle of digital communications work. The scope of this work will be refined during the first week of the internship based on team priorities and the intern’s interests. Through this work, the intern will have the opportunity to: Build an understanding of how digital communications support ACP’s public-facing messaging and organizational goals. Develop skills in web content management, social media strategy, and digital storytelling. Gain experience using analytics tools to evaluate user behavior, engagement, and content performance. Support efforts to improve website usability, accessibility, and search visibility. Strengthen professional writing, editing, and collaboration skills within a communications team. Qualifications Required: Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, with an interest in communications, journalism, marketing, environmental studies, or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with guidance. Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of teams and stakeholders. Interest in clean energy and public-facing communications. Preferred (but not required): Relevant coursework or prior internship experience in digital communications, marketing, or media. Familiarity with website platforms such as WordPress or Webflow. Experience using design or content tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar platforms. Interest in digital analytics, SEO, or user experience. Job Conditions ACP operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with an ambitious agenda and a highly motivated staff. Interns will be supported by their manager and team as they learn and contribute to work with real deadlines and priorities. This role may involve working across multiple tasks and adapting to shifting timelines with guidance.
