Full Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Zero-Trust Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the review, assessment, and implementation of Zero Trust principles across the Operational Technology (OT) systems on designated maritime vessels. This professional will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with Zero Trust (ZT) implementation guidelines outlined by the Department of Defense (DoD) and other relevant cybersecurity frameworks and regulations. What You Will Do: • Provide support around rule and regulatory interpretations. • Act as a mentor, provide advice and expertise to Cybersecurity departments. • Prepare and present training material to assist in educating ABS staff, support client seminars, etc. • Assessment and Compliance Analysis • Assess OT systems for Zero Trust compliance using established frameworks and guidelines. • Develop compliance profiles, analyzing impacts on organizational requirements and industry standards. • Gap Analysis and Strategic Planning • Identify compliance gaps and propose actionable solutions. • Create strategic plans, including resource and funding needs, with documented exceptions where full compliance isn't feasible. • Technical Review and Recommendations • Evaluate system architecture and technical documentation to address data gaps and recommend improvements. • Analyze Zero Trust adoption impacts on industry and regulatory standards. • Reporting and Collaboration • Deliver clear, actionable compliance reports for OT systems and ship classes. • Advise stakeholders and engage with industry partners to support smooth implementation. What You Will Need: Education and Experience • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. • A minimum of 8 or more years of experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Proven experience implementing Zero Trust principles, preferably within defense or regulated environments. • Strong technical understanding of OT cybersecurity frameworks, such as the ABS Cybersafety standards, RMF, and Zero Trust Reference Architecture. • Knowledge of international maritime cybersecurity regulations, including IMO and IACS guidelines. • Experience conducting in-depth assessments of specialized OT environments and developing compliance strategies. • Robust understanding of core cybersecurity principles, including access control, data management, and network segmentation. • Preferred Qualifications • Experience with military-related maritime systems, particularly with cybersecurity requirements for operational vessels. • Certifications: CISSP, CISM, or qualifications related to Zero Trust cybersecurity are preferred • Knowledge of automation, orchestration, and analytics tools used to enhance cybersecurity. • Other Requirements • Expert in developing reports, analyses, and implementation plans for technical and non-technical audiences. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address cybersecurity gaps within mission-critical environments. • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse stakeholders. • Travel up to 50% • Ability to obtain security clearance Salary: $180-200k Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Manager, Director or Executive level position.
