AACOM is seeking a full-time, experienced Health Affairs and Government Relations Manager to support federal health policy and advocacy initiatives that strengthen osteopathic medical education and improve public health. Reporting to the Director of Government Relations, this position is part of AACOM’s Government Relations and Health Affairs team and contributes to policy research, advocacy engagement, coalition partnerships, and educational outreach. The Manager helps advance AACOM’s mission by supporting health policy initiatives aligned with the Quintuple Aim and osteopathic principles of whole-person care. ABOUT AACOM The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, also known as AACOM, was founded in 1898 to lend support and assistance to the nation's osteopathic medical schools, and to serve as a unifying voice for osteopathic medical education. The association is guided by its Board of Deans of member colleges of osteopathic medicine, and various other member councils and committees. AACOM represents and advances the continuum of medical education by: • Supporting our member institutions as they educate the future physician workforce • Increasing awareness of osteopathic medical education and osteopathic medicine • Promoting excellence in medical education, policy, research, and service • Fostering innovation and quality throughout medical education WHAT YOU'LL DO Health Policy Analysis and Research • Monitor and analyze federal and state legislative, regulatory, workforce, and public health trends impacting osteopathic medical education and primary care • Conduct research and develop policy briefs, issue summaries, fact sheets, and talking points • Provide clear policy analysis to AACOM leadership, member colleges of osteopathic medicine, and advocacy partners Advocacy and Government Engagement • Collaborate with Government Relations Managers to align health policy content with legislative strategies • Draft advocacy materials including comment letters, policy briefs, testimony, and policymaker briefings • Support congressional meetings, agency engagement, coalition advocacy days, and policy briefings Educational Outreach and Thought Leadership • Plan and manage educational programs such as webinars, expert panels, seminars, and conference presentations • Develop content on priority topics including mental health, substance misuse, musculoskeletal pain management, climate impacts on health, and pandemic preparedness • Support AACOM’s role as a convener of national health policy discussions Coalition and Relationship Building • Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, federal agencies, healthcare associations, and national coalitions • Represent AACOM in collaborative initiatives focused on workforce development, health equity, and public health improvement Data-Informed Policy Support • Use research and data to support policy recommendations and advocacy strategies • Identify evidence demonstrating the impact of osteopathic medical education on population health, patient experience, provider well-being, and health equity WHO WE NEED • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health policy, political science, public administration, or a related field required. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS This is a full-time exempt, hybrid position with health, dental, vision, vacation, sick leave and 403(b) benefits.
