DESCRIPTION The Global Corporate Issues and Media Relations (GCIMR) team is seeking a high-judgment and experienced communications professional to join our team. This individual will play an important role identifying and rapidly responding to emerging topics and issues across the company’s Operations business - in particular last-mile delivery. Key job responsibilities • Manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges with high judgment and professionalism • Ability to be precise under tight deadlines and to prioritize and manage multiple situations simultaneously • Effectively represent Amazon as an on-the-record spokesperson • Ability to work with reporters to correct and clarify breaking news stories • Write, develop, and manage approvals of external communications materials dealing with sensitive and timely topics • Participate in multi-stakeholder emergency response meetings to provide insight and guidance from an external communications point-of-view A day in the life This individual will help manage day-to-day crises and reactive media inquiries – with a concentration on last-mile delivery and the operations network that supports it. They’ll also contribute to forward-looking scenario plans in preparation for reactive or issues-based news cycles and business announcements, changes, and more. The successful candidate must think and communicate clearly to address complicated scenarios. He/she will be responsible for developing externally-facing statements and responses, thereby requiring exceptional writing skills, as well as the ability to manage feedback and edits quickly and concisely. About the team The Global Corporate Issues and Media Relations team supports communications around Amazon’s reputation as a great employer and industry leader that strives to be a more sustainable company and contributes positively to the communities it serves. The U.S.-based team supports media relations while providing strategic counsel to relevant business teams and other communications teams. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree • 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience • Experience in media relations and issues management PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience in managing issues and crisis situations for major retailer, package delivery brand, or manufacturing/plant/warehouse facility • Experience gaining alignment with cross-functional teams • Skill in developing creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
