DESCRIPTION The Global Standards & Customer Excellence (GSCE) organization is seeking a Process Improvement Specialist III to drive network-wide projects and innovate new processes at scale to join our Cross Mile Continuous Improvement (XMCI) team. This role manages key CI initiatives across North America Operations and ensures that projects are planned, executed, and validated with clarity and consistency. The Senior PIS translates organizational goals into structured project plans, coordinates cross functional partners, and ensures that improvement activities are delivered to target outcomes. As a Process Improvement Specialist, you will manage project delivery, validate execution quality, and support mechanisms that improve performance in Safety, Quality, People, and Cost. You will analyze operational data, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to reporting routines that inform leadership decisions. This role works closely with operations leaders, Finance partners, and subject matter experts across business units to ensure that CI projects are well planned, measurable, and sustainable. You will play a critical role in strengthening the CI culture by coaching partners, sharing best practices, and maintaining standards across the network. Key job responsibilities • Lead the planning and delivery of complex improvement programs that support XMCI priorities across Safety, Quality, Cost, and Velocity. • Translate organizational goals into clear project plans with defined milestones, success criteria, and measurable outcomes. • Partner with cross-functional teams including Operations, Finance, Learning, Technology, and senior leadership to align objectives, remove barriers, and drive shared ownership. • Analyze operational and business performance data to identify improvement opportunities, validate impact, and guide decision making. • Develop and implement strategies to maximize the return on investment (ROI) for programs. • Collaborate with subject matter experts and instructional designers to develop effective cross-mile CI execution projects • Influence leaders at all levels by presenting recommendations, highlighting risks, and driving alignment on next steps • Design feedback loops with customers to identify top priorities. • Identify opportunities to automate workflows, streamline processes, and scale mechanisms across business units. • Conduct current state analysis to identify performance, key pain points and inefficiencies. • Develop short-term actions (0 – 3 months) and long-term (1–3 years) roadmaps. • Contribute to continuous refinement of XMCI operating models, governance mechanisms, and portfolio management routines. • Up to 50% travel required. A day in the life • Act as a strategic advisor to process improvement managers and field operators, providing guidance on developing and executing effective network-level program expansion, or process changes. • Develop and maintain schedules, ensuring timely and proactive dissemination of curriculum to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. The XMCI team plays a vital role in governance and optimizing cross-business unit resource allocation, ensuring that NA Operations stakeholder project requests are effectively managed and prioritized. Through centralized communication and coordination, we facilitate seamless project execution across our network while maintaining operational efficiency at the local level. The team's scope encompasses two essential project categories: delivering a common Amazon CI culture across Amazon Stores and executing CI initiatives that enhance operational excellence by empowering local leadership. This dual focus allows us to drive both operational optimization and central responsibility across Amazon Stores, contributing significantly to Amazon's long-term commitment to cultivating a global culture of Lean Excellence. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Experience with continuous improvement methods such as Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC, etc. • Bachelor's degree in operations, supply chain or logistics, or 8+ years of Amazon experience • Experience experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements • Bachelor's degree or equivalent • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership • Experience working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams • Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits), or experience communicating results to senior leadership • Experience in oral and written communication PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • 5+ years of driving process improvements experience • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification • Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or a Six Sigma Black Belt and experience as a lean sensei • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization • Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $108,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
