Overview The Director, Development Strategy & Operations role will be focused on delivering the near- and long-term objectives of the R&D Leadership Team as Alnylam delivers the next wave of transformational medicines. Reporting to the Executive Director, Development Strategy, Operations, & Portfolio, this role will have broad responsibility for strategic planning and operational delivery within Clinical Development. This individual will drive high-priority projects for the Development organization, facilitate effective prioritization and decision-making, and serve as a thought-partner and executor for senior leaders in the Clinical Development organization (e.g., Pipeline Delivery & Clinical Operations, Clinical Research, Quantitative Sciences). As a partner to senior leaders Clinical Development, this role requires a highly resourceful person with strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, proven cross-functional collaboration abilities, and the ability to manage ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Enable a strong connection between the week-to-week operations of the Development and the long-term enterprise strategic roadmap Support R&D senior leaders in identifying, scoping, organizing, leading execution, and monitoring progress on priority initiatives (e.g., accelerating cycle times and speed to market) Contribute to above-asset and portfolio-wide analyses and initiatives such as disease area strategies, portfolio scenario planning and portfolio prioritization, strategic resource planning and management, etc. Drive corporate planning deliverables (annual goal setting, annual investment planning, long-range planning) via thought-partnership with senior leaders, delivering analyses, and running a tight process in coordination with other expertise areas (e.g., Finance) Facilitate effective decision-making and follow-through on actions, e.g., for pipeline Governance meetings and priority initiatives steering committees Be a trusted thought-partner and problem-solving partner with senior R&D Leaders and the Executive Director, R&D Strategy, Operations, & Portfolio Prepare analyses, gather and structure data, structure ambiguous problems, and distill into executive-level communications Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in scientific or business discipline; MBA or PhD preferred 10+ years of experience, 7 of which in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and/or management consulting or professional services, with experience in Clinical Development and R&D Experience working on high-visibility projects with frequent engagement with senior stakeholders Excellent problem solving and execution skills Ability to manage ambiguity and multitask Strong project management and matrix working skills Ability to build trust and effective working relationships with colleagues across functional groups and levels of seniority (including senior executives) Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to influence without authority Energized by working in a highly entrepreneurial biotech environment Intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and desire to learn and continually build skills U.S. Pay Range $236,100.00 - $319,500.00 The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
