Intern - Manufacturing Engineering (Summer 2026) Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. We are currently seeking an Intern - Manufacturing Engineering (Summer 2026). This role will support the Plant Engineering team in identifying and implementing improvements to manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to project work, equipment troubleshooting, and process optimization. Additional duties may be assigned to support departmental goals. Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement using lean manufacturing principles. • Support data collection and analysis for root cause investigations and improvement initiatives. • Help update mechanical or electrical drawings using AutoCAD or similar software (training provided). • Participate in project planning and implementation under the guidance of engineering staff. • Learn and implement project management, reliability, and electrical and control system basics. • Assist in preparing specifications for equipment, materials, and services. • Troubleshoot manufacturing and facilities equipment, either mechanical or electrical, including sensors, switches, relays, PLCs, variable drives and motors. • Attend team and project meetings to gather updates and contribute to discussions. Qualifications: • Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college pursuing a degree in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing Engineering or related discipline. • Must be at least Sophomore status. • Must have a minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA (student will be required to provide a current transcript). • Must be available to work at least 40 hours per week for at least 12 weeks. • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. • Strong interest in manufacturing operations and process improvement. • Dependable and punctual with strong organizational and time management skills. • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CAD software is a plus. • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team setting. Work Environment: • Office and manufacturing plant environment. 100% onsite. • Frequent exposure to Allied’s manufacturing facilities, which may include dusty, hot, or cold conditions. • Required to follow Allied Mineral Products’ Safety & Health policy and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate. • Flexible 40-hour work week.
