Position Overview: The Manager of National Engagement will serve as a key spokesperson and community engagement leader for the Alliance for Period Supplies, focusing on national advocacy efforts to address period poverty and advance menstrual equity. This role combines strategic communications, stakeholder relationship management, and policy advocacy to enhance organizational impact and reputation. Reporting directly to the Director of External Affairs, the Manager provides community and corporate engagement expertise in support of organizing and capacity-building efforts. The Manager collaborates with allied members, funders, community stakeholders, policy advocates, elected officials, and other partners to drive mission-critical initiatives. Key Responsibilities: External Engagement: • Serve as primary spokesperson for the Alliance for Period Supplies on period poverty, menstrual equity, and period stigma. • Represent Alliance at signature events including Period Poverty Awareness Week and U.S. Conference on Poverty and Basic Needs. • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including government officials, media outlets, community organizations, and industry associations. • Plan and lead annual Period Poverty Awareness Week with interdepartmental teams and external partners. • Recruit speakers and develop panels for conferences focused on period poverty. Communications: • Implement comprehensive communications plans aligned with organizational goals. • Participate in media interviews and maintain relationships with journalists and media professionals. • Draft press releases, media kits, website content, and blog articles. • Manage professional social media presence across platforms to advance awareness and policy solutions. • Create internal communications materials including newsletters, memos, and presentations. Government Affairs and Policy Engagement: • Provide support and guidance to the government affairs team on period poverty and menstrual equity issues. • Stay current on legislative activities and policy developments relevant to period poverty. • Serve as a key representative with advocates and elected officials. • Support development and implementation of lobby days focused on period poverty. • Work to expand and support state coalitions related to period poverty. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Minimum 4 years experience in public health, anti-poverty policy, menstrual/reproductive health, or national advocacy (6 years if no bachelor's degree). • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent additional experience. • Strong commitment to social justice with demonstrated experience in health equity partnerships. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to work across diverse communities. • Proven project management experience with ability to handle complex, multi-variable problems. • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and adapt to shifting priorities. • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Canva, and Salesforce. • Travel required for conferences, events, and stakeholder meetings. • Some evening and weekend work required.
